Patented Sept. 30, 1930 UNITED STATES JULIO HARTFORD RAE, F DAYTON, NEVADA, ASSIGNOR OF*I\TINETY'-FIVE-ONE HUNDREDTHS TO JULIO HENSLER- RAE, OF DAYTON, NEVADA Y COSMETIC DEVICE j Application filed March 5, 1929. Serial No. 344,462.v
the supporting trunnions for the roller, carry lipstick and eyebrow pencils, these being removable for use and also being removable when it is desired to fill the container with new powder.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the type described which is extremely simple in construction and which makes a compact outfit that may be readily carried in a womans purse.
Other objects and advantages will appear as the specification proceeds, and the novel features will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device;
Figure 2 is a longitudinal section;
Figure 3 is a transverse section;
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the powder container; and
Figure 5 is a perspective view of one of the trunnions.
In carrying out my invention I provide a container 1 (see Figure 4.) for holding pow der. The ends 2 of the container project above the sides and have openings 3. Powder may be placed with-in the container prior to the placing of the powder puff roller in the container.
The powder pull roller 4 is shown in Figure 2, and it will be noted that it has a length equal to the distance between the inner surfaces of the ends 2. The roller is covered with a soft material 5 that is adapted to transfer powder from the powder compartment 6 to the skin.
The roller is hollow and the bore 7 thereof is designed to receive cylindrical trunnions 8 and 9. These trunnions have a diam} eter equal to the diameter of the, openings 3 and to the bore 7. The trunnions 8 and 9 are secured to handles 10 and 11 by means of which the trunnions may be removed at will.
Each trunnion carries a pencil, these being numbered 12 and 13. One may be a rouge pencil while the other a lipstick or eyebrow pencil. The pencils are received in supporting'ringsl l and 15, and these rings carry pinsl6 andl? that ride in slots 18 and 19' inthe cylinders Sand 9 respectively. The pins 16 and 17 permit the pencils to be advanced when using.
' From theforegoing description of the various parts of the device, the operation thereof may be readily understood.
The powder is placed within the container 6 and then the powder puff roller is rotatably secured in place by means of the trunnions 8 and 9. The container may now be grasped in the hand and held at an angle so as to feed the powder to the roller. The roller may be moved over the face or body and will deposit the powder upon the'skin uniformly. The pencils may be used in the manner already indicated.
When the device is not in use a cover 20 of the shape shown in Figures 1 and 3 may be mounted over the roller and frictionally engage with the container. The cover has slots 21 for receiving thehandles 10 and 11. The device is compact and provides a novel means for applying powder to the skin.
Although I have shown and described one embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that the same is susceptible of va-- rious changes, and I reserve the right to employ such changes as may come within the scope of the invention as claimed.
I claim:
1. A cosmetic device comprising a powder container, a powder puff roller, trunnions for removably securing the roller to the container, and cosmetics disposed in the trunnions.
2. A cosmetic device comprising a container for powder, a roller-shaped powder puff carried by the container, trunnions for rotatably securing the pufl? to the container, and
cosmetic pencils slidably carried by the trunnions, said trunnions being removable from the container for permitting the use of the pencils.
5 3. A cosmetic device comprising a casing having an open top, a roller puff removably carried by said casing and closing the opening said casing carrying a powder that will drop upon the roller when the casing is inm verted and be transferred to a body when the roller is moved thereover.
4. A cosmetic device comprising an elongated casing having an open top and ends that project above the sides, a powder pvufi in the shape of a roller having a length equal to that of the casing and a diameter equal to the width of the open top, and removable trunnions carried by said ends and rotatably supporting said roller.
5. A cosmetic device comprising an elongated casing having an open top and ends that project above the sides, a powder puff in the shape of a roller having a length equal to that of the casing and a diameter equal to the width of the open top removable trunnions carriedby said ends and rotatably supporting said roller, and a U-shaped cover for receiving the roller and the casing, said cover having slots in its ends for receiving the own-- nions.
JULIO HARTFORD RAE.
