GLIP FOR SECURING WOOD SLEEEERS T-O- GONCRE-'DE-FLOOBS Application filed September 22, 1927. Serial -No. 22 1;.359.-
or hardened, the sleepers are positioned in and nailed to the top or retaining members of the clips.
hese clips are objectionable for the reason that they are not so constructed as to permit the use of any clip or clips of a roW that may become laterally displaced and for the reason that-they are not so constructed as to permit the use of bent or crooked Sleepers.
The present invention has for one of its Objects to ove'rcome the stated objection to these clips, and to attain this end comprehends the provision of clips in Which the retaining members are adjustable laterally With respect to the roW in Which they are arranged.
WVith the foregoing and other Objects' in view, the nature of Which Will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, Wherein:
Figure l is a sectional view illnstrating the application of clips constructed in acy cordance With my invention,
Figure 2 is a sectionalvievv taken on the Vertical planeindicated by the line 2-2 of Figure'l, and
Figure 3 is a perspective view of a slightly modified form of the clips.
Referring in detail to the drawing, 1
designates a concrete floor, 2 wood Sleepers to which the floor boards are nailed, and 8 clips through the medium of Which the ieepers are secured to the floor. The clips are arranged in rows, and they comprise rods or spacing bars 4 Which are anohored to the floor l While it is in a green state and retaining members 5 in Which the sleepers 2 are Secured after the floor has set or hardened.
' sired.
y lie.
The rodsmay` be madeof any length dehey may be long: enough tounderlie more than two of the Sleepers,v 2, as shown in Figuresfl. and 2 and When made of this length they are. eaeh equipped with Z:
retainingl members. 5 equal in number to the number of Sleepers Which they under- Asshown in Figre. 3, the rods i may be made long enough to merely underlie one of the Sleepers 2, and When made of this length they are each equipped With a single retaining member 5,
The rodsfi are each provided at one end With a hook 6 and at the other With an eye 7 and they arealsoprovided with aterminal anchor 8 and intermediate: anchors 9 Which are embedded. in thefloor l. The anchor 8 is provided at its lower ends. With an inwardly directed hook 10, and the anchors 9 are of U-form. Each bar et and its anchors 8 and 9. are. preferably formed from a single lengthof Wire. The retaining` members 5 Which are each' pref-erabl; formed from a single length of Wire, are of i-form, and the: side bars 11 thereof are provided'with loops ll through the medium of Which they are pivotallv and slidably connected to the bars 4. The free ends of the bars 11 are provided With eyes l2'for` the reception of thenails 13 through the medium of WhlClI thG Sleepers 2 are Secured to and Within the retaining members 5.
As the retaining members 5 are pivotally connected to the bars 4, they Will occupy a folded position on the floor liintil the sleepers 2 are to be installedor put down, and in view thereof` the floor may be freely used` for Wheeling or shoveling. When the slow ers 2 are to be installed =orput down, the retaining members are -raised into a Vertical position, land thereafter the Sleepers are placed in such members and Secured thereto by the nails 13. As the retaining members 5 are slidably connected to the bars C, they may he adjusted longitudnally With respect thereto and transversely With respect to the rows in Which the clips are arranged, Whereby topermit the retaining members to he arranged for the reception of bent or croolred Sleepers and to permit them to be to give exactproportions.
alined for the reception of Straight Sleepers in the event that one or more of the clips of a roW should become out of alinement. The retaining members 5 have a Wide range of adjustment on the bars 4, and due thereto, it is not necessary to arrange the clips.
With the retaining members in accurate alinement, With the result that a material V saving of time and labor is efiected. As many clips as may be practicable may be connected together through the medium of their hooks 6 and eyes 7, Whereby to permit the clips to be easilyand quickly position-cd for anchoring to the floor l and Whereby 'w properly space the roWs of clips. The movement of the retaining members 5 on the bars 4 is limited by the eyes ll and certain of the anchors 8. v
It should be understood that the drawing is merely illustrative and does not pretend Furthermore, the said draWing is illustrative of a preferred construction it being 'my expectation that various changes and modifications' may be made Without departing from the Spirit and scope of my invention.
lVhat lS claimed is 1. A clip of'the character set forth comj prising a bar, said bar having depending anchorlng members thereon adapted to be secured With the bar proper elevated, and a sleeper-retaining member having loops urrounding and slidably mounted on said 2. A clip of the character set forth' comprising afbar, said bar having depending` anchoring members thereon adapted to be Secured With the bar proper elevated, a sleeper-retaining. mem'ber having loops surrounding and slidably mounted on said bar, and books at the opposite ends of said bar. 3. A clip of the character set forth comprising a bar, said bar having depending anchoring members thereon adapted to be secured With the bar proper elevated, a sleeper-retanng member having, loops surrounding and slidably mounted 'on said bar, said anchors being integral With the bar and of U-shape, hooks at opposite ends of the bar, and a dependent anchor member at one end o f the bar carrying one of the hooks and formng an eyelet at its junction With the bar.
V In testimony Whereof Iaflix my signature.
