Y Rolls of paper as they come from'r oll paper making machines are of considerable width and diameter and very heavy. The paper'of these rolls is frequently cut into sheets and strips andforls'atisfactory results it is necessary that theroll be accurately aligned or. adjusted in relation to thecutting' or. slitting machine.
The main objects 'of this invention are to.
provide a support for paper rolls and the facilitates the handling of the accurate adjustment or aligning.
Objects relating'to details and economies of construction and operation of my invention will appear from the description to follow. The invention is defined and pointed out in the claims. I
. A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated'in the accompanying drawing, in which:'
Fig. 1 isa perspective "view of my im proved support, a roll of-paper being indicatedin position thereon by dotted lines.
.Fig. 2 is a fragmentary view partially in vertical section on line 2 2 of Fig. 1., rolls of paper being indicated thereon by dotted lines.
In the drawing similar, reference charactors refer to similar parts throughout the several views. v
Referring to the drawing, theembodiment illustrated comprises a pair of horizontal spaced bed members 1 and 2 supported by pedestals 3 adjacent the ends thereof. These bed members. and the pedestals are, in the embodiment illustrated, integral castings and adapted to support a load. The bed members have horizontal groovelike 'ways4 at their ends.
I :Roll supporting bars 5 and '6 are slidably mounted in these ways and are provided the supporting bar 6. v
paper provided with a supporting spindle may be rolled upon the supporting bars and rolled'along thereon into engagement with the stop 7 A 15 is then adjusted in'proper relation to the web of paper indicated at cutting or slitting machine and the supporting bar 6 may be adjusted to accuratelyalign the web of paper or to position'it so that the web of paper is delivered to the cutting machine in the proper relation.
In Fig. 2, a second'roll of paper, as 16, is shown in position on the supporting members to be advanced to a delivery position when the roll- 9 is exhausted.
- The pedestals are of such height that the structure with the supporting spindles in proper position to engage the supporting bars. I have illustrated and described myimwheel I may be delivered from a truck dAn adjusting shaft 12 is rotatably if i the pedestals 3 and has provements in an embodiment which I have found very satisfactory. I have not attempted to illustrate or describe certain disclosure will enable those skilled in the art to embody or adapt my improvements,
as may be desired. p v
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secureby Letters Patent, is: p
1. A support for paper rolls and the like comprising spaced horizontal bed members provided with supporting pedestals at the ends thereof and having groove-like ways in the faces thereof, one of said bed memadjusting shaft rotatably mounted on one of the pedestals and having threaded en 8O modifications or adaptations as I believe this gagement with said arm, and a hand wheel on said shaft. 7 2. A supportrfor paper rolls and the like comprising spaced horizontal bed members slottedfroll supporting Ways and provided with stops, a downwardly'projecting arm onone of having Ways 111 said bed] members being longitudinally bars slid'able irisaid arting bars disposed through said slot in said bed member and an adjusting shaft having threaded engagementwith said arm.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set" ARTHUR W; COLE. F
