NOSE PROTECTOR Filed Sept. 26, 1928 l E/l 70// m/e/e y yam/ m:
Patented June 3, 1930 HARRY G. HARRIS, OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA NOSE PROTECTOR Application filed September 26, 1928. Serial No. 308,405.
My invention relates to a nose protector, and has for its principal object the provision of a relatively simple, practical and inexpen- .siVe device that may be readily applied to the nose for the purpose of protecting the same against the effects of sun and wind, and which protecting device is designed for the use'of bathers, golf players, the occupants of open automobiles, or airplanes, or by persons engaged in outdoor occupations, sports or ast-times.
it further object of my invention is to provide a nose protector of the character referred to that may be utilized as an advertising novelty, or when constructed in different shapes and colors the device may serve as an attractive and interesting toy or plaything for children.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts that will hereinafter be more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which which my improved nose protector is formed.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the protector in position upon the nose of a wearer.
. Fig. 3 is an enlarged cross section taken approximately on the line 33 of Fig; 2.
My improved nose protecting device is preferably formed from a sheet of thin flexible material,- preferably celluloid, that may be colored or treated so as to render it opaque or semi-opaque, and the section of material which is shown in blank form in Fig. 1 is cut to form a substantially triangular body 10 having a rounded apex 11.
The lower outer corners of the triangular body are extended slightly to form rounded terminal portions 12.
The length of the sheet of material from which the protector is formed from the rounded apex 11 to the center of the lower edge of the section of material is slightly greater than the length of the bridge of the nose, and the section of material 10 is bent on its medial line so as to provide a cover for Fig. l is a plan view of the blank from lower corners are bent inward so that when the device is applied to the nose they will lit snugly in the recesses between the lower side portions of the nose and the cheeks of the wearer, thereby firmly retaining the protector in proper position upon the nose of the wearer.
When properly positioned for use the device entirelv covers and protects the nose of the wearer against the action of sun and wind and as the said device is formed of celluloid or other light weight sheet material, it affords no discomfort to the wearer when applied for use.
When used as an advertising novelty the outer surface of the protector may have advertising matter printed upon or applied thereto or by constructing the protector in odd or grotesque shapes and colors the device will provide an interesting and amusing toy or plaything for children.
Thus it will be seen that I have provided a nose protecting device that is relatively simple in construction, inexpensive of manufacturc and very effective in performing the functions for w ich it is intended.
It will be understood that minor changes in the size, form and construction of the various parts of my improved nose protector may be made and substituted for those herein shown and described without departing from the spirit of my invention, the scope of which is set forth in the appended claim.
I claim as my invention: I
As a new article of manufacture, a nose protector comprising a substantially triangular section of thin flexible material bent to fit .over and cover the nose and the. lower corners of which section of material are rounded and bent inwardly to approach each other and engage in the recesses between the lower portions of the sides of the nose and the checks of the wearer.
I11 testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
HARRY G. HARRIS.
