Description

J. P. KENNEDY RADIOCALENDAR May 2 7, 1930.
Filed Sept. 25, 1929 Patented May 27, 1930 UNITED STATES JAMES P. KENNEDY, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK RADIO CALENDAR v Application :filed September 25, 1929. Serial No. 394,995.
This invention relates in general to socalled reminders by means of Which recurring events may be scheduled so as to be called to mind as they occur.
One of the objects of this invention is the provision of a simple reminder or calendar on Which events to occur at stated future intervals may be recorded so that they Will not be overlooked.
Another object of this invention involves the construction of a simple device of this nature employing one card for each day in the Week on Which the events are recorded.
More particularly another purpose of this invention is to construct a radio calendar on which may be recorded the various programs of the different stations which one `esires not to overlook as they occur throughout the Week.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a device of this nature which is particularly useful in recording events Which occur on the same day and at the same time each' Week.
These and other objects as Will appear from the following disclosure are secured by means of this invention.
This invention resides substantially in the combination, construction, arrangement and .relative location of parts all as will be described in greater detail hereafter.
Referring to the drawings Figure l is a front elevational vieW of the device of this invention With the cards extended;
Fig. 2 is a similar rear elevational View of the device;
Fig. 3 is a vertical cross-sectional View` through the device with all the cards in normal position.
It is quite frequently desirable to have some form of calendar or reminder on which may be recorded in an orderly fashion events which recur at regular intervals. This is particularly desirable in connection With the use of a modern radio receiving set over which it is desired to listen in on certain programs which occur at the same time and on the same day of each succeeding Week. A program will be advertised to occur in the future and it is almostnecessary, in order not to overlook it, to have some form of reminder to call it to ones attention in time. The device of this invention While very simple meets these requirements. The device is also arranged to recall not only regularly recurring events, but special events or programs which have been advertised to occur in the future. This invention is particularly described in connection With the recording of radio pro- 6G grams, but it Will be apparent after description of the device that it is not limited to this field of recording.
Referring to the drawings for a better understanding of the invention the device is shown as comprisingseven cards indicated by the numerals l, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, one for each day in the Week. These cards are of suchl size and shape that they Will fit easily into a container 8 made of any suitable stiiil 70 material having the opening or Windov,7 9 on one side thereof and the opening or Window 10 on the other' side thereof, While one of the features of the invention involves the manner of marking the cards so that the faces of the cards Which appear in both Windows are for recording events on the same day. Thus the card for Sunday When in the folder is exposed through the Window 9 so that the events may be recorded thereon. With the other 89 cards arranged in their proper order as shown in Figure l the card in the folder With its face appearing through the back Window l0 Will also be exposed for recording the Sunday events. This is secured by marking the back 85. of the Sunday card No. 7 for Monday records, the'back of the Monday card No. 6 for Tuesday records, the back of the Tuesday card No. 5 for Wednesday records, the back A of the Vednesday card No. 4 for Thursday 9' records, the back of the Thursday Card No. 3 for Friday records, the back of the Friday card No. 2 for Saturday records, and the back of the Saturday card No. 1 for Sunday I records. Thus each day as the front card is 9 removed and placed at the rear of the cards the records for that day will be exposed in both the front and back Windows of th folder.
The cards have been shown marked ar- '100 ranged in a suitable manner for recording radio program events, but it is to be understood t-hat it can, of course, be marked to record other events. Thus the front of each card is provided at the top with a symbol indicating the day. It is ruled With live columns and spaced off horizontally. The central column is for recording the exact time of a recurrence of the event. The tWo columns on either side of the central column are for recording the designating station symbol, and the two outer columns are for recording the name of the event. These columns are designated by symbols on the top of the container as follows: Time Station and Program respectively. Tothe left at the top is placed the symbol A M. and to the right of the top is placed the symbol R M. both on the container. On the rear of each card which is also given a symbol to indicate the day are provided-three vertical columns horizontally ruled. These three columns are designated by symbols on the container as follows: Time Station and Program,
The lower portion of the card under the symbol Speciah not Weekly is marked off in four vertical columns, also horizontally ruled. These columns are designated respec` tively by the symbols Date Time Station and Program A suitable symbol is provided at thebtop of the folder on the back suoli as Afternoon and Special. The hours from noon to 5 p. m. are provided on the bach of the cards in the manner shown because it is not usual to listen to programs froin midnightto 5 a. m., While the markings on the front of the deviceV take care of yone column of time symbols both A. M. and P. M. programs. Tt is, of course, to be understood that all of the cards are Wholly Within the container as shown in Fig. 3, and have only one slioivn extended in Figs. l and 2 to-give a complete disclosure of the device. Vith each card main-:ed on the front and back as icated as the cards are Withdrawn each day and moved to the back the proper card is exposed both front and bach for the day.
it will bel apparent from the foregoing disclosure that l have devised an exceedingly simple and yet efficient device involving certain principles of construction and association which may be embodied iii other `ihysical forms Without departing from the spirit and scope of this invention. I do not, therefore, desire to be strictly limited to the disclosure as given for purposes of illustration, but rather to these principles as defined in the appended claims.
Nliat l seek to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
l. ln a calendar device as described, the combination comprisinor container having an opening in the front and rear thereof, seven cards in said container one for each. day in the Weellz, and designated spaces on said cards arranged-so that the face of the card exposed through the front Window and the face of the card exposed in the rear Window are both for the same day.
