Description

May 13, 19.30. PETER$QN 1,758,238 I WALL CABINET Filed April 25, 1928 INVENTEIR EY -$M W K HTTDRN Y Patented May 13, 1930 UNITED STATES HOLLAND E. PETERSON, or GARY, INDIANA WALL CABINET Application filed April 25,
sents in horizontal position a shelf adapted to serve as a support for the infant.
In describing the invention in detail, reference is herein had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention showing the cover lowered to open position; and
Figure 2 is a front elevation of the same, showing it mounted in a recess provided therefor in the wall of a room.
Referring to said drawing, 1 designates the bottom, 2 the top and 3 the ends of a rectan-' gular box-like casing adapted for mounting in permanent, or fixed, position either upon a wall 4 or in a recess provided therefor between the studding 28 of such wall. Hinged to the bottom 1 is an edge of a front cover 5 which is vertically movable from upright closing relation to the front of the casing to the horizontal position shown in the drawings.
Pivotally mounted within the lower part of the casing, as upon a horizontal rod 6 which has its opposite ends mounted on the end walls 3 of the casing, is the rear edge portion of a metallic frame 7 of rectangular form upon which is stretched a covering 8 of fabric, as canvas or oilcloth. Each of the opposite outer end portions of said frame has pivotally attached thereto, as at 9, an end of one of two pivotally connected and relatively foldable arms 10 and 11, the other arm of which is pivotally mounted, as at 12, upon the interior of the adjacent end wall 3 of the cabinet. Said 1928. SerialNo. 272,692.
ports for the outer edge portion of the frame 7. Additional support for said frame is afforded by pivoted links 13 interposed between said frame and brackets 14 carried by the adjacent face of the cover 5, as is best shown in Fig. 1, said links being disposed in upright position when the cover 5 and the frame 7 occupy horizontal positions.
Pivotally mounted on the rear wall 15 of the casing at a suitable point is a ring lo'designed, in a horizontalposition, to receive thereon the rim of a washbowl 17, as shown. Said ring preferably has an integral'arm pivotally attached to a bracket-18, so as to be foldable upward to the dotted line 2 when not in use.
A door-closed case 19 for containing various toilet articles is preferably provided in one of the upper corners-of the casing, while a towel rack 20 and a shelfQl are providedat convenient points on the rear wall 15, as shown, said shelf having associated therewith guard rail or bar22.
A weighing scale 23 is mounted upon an arm 24 which is pivotally mounted, as upon a bracket 25, for swinging movements relative to the rear wall of the casing, said scale having a plurality of depending -,hooks 26 adapted to be disposed in supporting relation to the rim'of the washbowl, or other suitable position shown, in Fig.
' form of support, whereon the infant may be laid or supported while being weighed.
Various other accessory supports, as a soap holder 27, may be mounted in convenient positions within the casing.
While I have herein shown the invention as embodying numerous parts or accessory members, it will be understood that theseare mere ly incidental to the essential features hereinbefore described and which are defined in the appended claim.
What is claimed is- Y An infant bathing cabinet composed of I a casing adapted to be secured to a wall at a PATENT OFFICE arms, in extended position, constitute suppoint spaced above the floor, a hinged cover for the casing movable to a horizontal position so as to render the .cover accessible to a person in a seated position or one standing on the fioor, a baby rest frame pivoted to the easing, links carried by the cover and connected to the rest frame for-supporting the latter spaced above and from the cover and in a horizontal position, and foldable members connected to the casing and to the points of connection of the links With the rest frame for supporting the rest frame.
In testimony whereof, Laflig; my signature.
ROLLAND EJPETER-SON.
