The object of the present invention is to provide a bottled water dispensing device of such form that the bottle may be held right side up and concealed within a casing at the base thereof while at the top of the container will be placed a receptacle for a refrigerant, a pressure pump being located intermediate the refrigerant chamber and the bottle and provided with conduits and a cooling coil so arranged that the water is caused, upon pressure of the lever and release thereof, to pass from the bottle upwardly, thence traverse the cooling coil at the base of the refrigerant chamber and thence be ejected at a bubbler located at the top of the casing. The device possesses a number of advantages over the inverted bottle coolers and other devices intended for the same general purpose. The bottle is not only disposed in normal position, but is located at the base of the casing near the floor and concealed, the cooling may be better controlled, and the provision of a drinking device at the top of the casing is an advantage.
The invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of an embodiment of the invention;
Figure 2 is a plan view thereof, and
Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional plan on the line 33, Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings 1 indicates a metal casing which may be rectangular or annular in form. It has a closed bottom 2 and may rest on supports 3. Casing 1 may be provided with a swinging or removable door 4 for access to its interior. A chamber 5 is provided for waste water at the top of which is a horizontal wall 6. Above horizontal wall 6 and preferably resting upon transverse supports 7 is a cooling coil 8. At its lower end coil 8 communicates with an inlet branch pipe 8* leading within the pump box 9. Within box 9 may be placed any suit able form of pump, such as the pump indicated in Figure 1 and comprising a cylinder 10, a piston 11, a reciprocatory rod 12 and an actuating lever 13. and the lever may be projected through a suitable aperture formed in casing 1. At its, outer end the lever may be formed with the thumb-piece 1 1 for convenient operation. At the; base of pump cylinder 10 is an inletcommunicating with a short pipe 15. adapted; to. fit within the horizontal section 16 of a glass or other tube 16 placedwithin; the water bottle 17. The tube; may at its lower end, be connected. to a groove restmember 18, contacting with the bottom. wall of the bottle and the bottle may be closed by a sanitary cap 19 which centres the tube16. The pump cyliinder inlet may be controlled by a conventional form of ball valve so that water. may be drawn into the cylinder by the upward or suction: stroke of piston 11, and this action may be formed; by a spring 20, whereas downward movement of the piston willeffect closure of the pipe 15v and; cause the water to be forced through the cooling coil upwardly through a pipe 21. Pipe 21 is disposed. angularly with respect to a drinking cup 22 at the top of the casing. and formed integrally there. with in the present embodiment. At the, base of cup 22 is a discharge outlet connected to a pipe23 which may be led in any-suitable manner to the waste water tank 5.
The drinking cup 22 in combination with pipe 21 forms a so-called bubbler drinking fount. However, if it is desired to drink from a conventional cup, pipe 23 may be extended outwardly from the casing to a faucet and a cap may close the top of cup 22, such a modification being readily understood without the necessity of illustrating it in the drawings.
Above support 7 and held thereby is a table 24 preferably formed with spaced slats and adapted to receive ice as at 25, or some other suitablerefrigerant. Projecting upwardly a of the tube into connection, one fitting within the other. One or more downward and upward movements of the lever 13 will cause the ejection of the required amount of water.
It will be understood that various modifications may be made in the form and arrangement of the elements shown and described without departing from the spirit of the invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent being as follows 1. A bottled water dispensing device comprising a casing, a lowermost chamber for the reception of a bottle of water, an uppermost chamber for a refrigerant, a cooling coil in the upper chamber, a plunger pump intermediate said chambers and having an operating lever projecting through the casing, the pump being connected with the coil and having a pro ecting inlet pipe for connection with a'tube projecting from the base of the bottle to the top thereof, as and for the purpose set forth, and a water discharge member connected with the coil.
2. A bottled water dispensing device comprising a casing, a lowermost chamber for the reception of a bottle of water, a horizontal wall intermediate the casing and forming the base of an uppermost chamber, a horizontal cooling coil resting on said wall, a plunger pump intermediate said chambers and having an operating lever projected through an aperture formed in the casing, a connection intermediate the pump and the coil, an inlet member at the pump for connection with the bottle, a drinking cup formed in the casing at the top thereof, a water discharge pipe communicating with the drinking cup and with the coil, and a waste water container formed within the casing below the uppermost chamber and communicating with the latter.
