My invention relates to a bag holding and bag dispensing device and is more preferably adapted to the holding'and dispensing of paper bags in stores, so as to render easily accessible a variety of sizes of bags and which will insure the withdrawal of only one bag at a time.

An object of my invention is to provide a device for holding bags in which the bottom of'the bag is presented through a hole in my device with a spring pressed member for forcing the bottom of the bags through the hole, together with a second spring pressed member for holding the top portions of the bags against the inner side wall of my device.

Another object of my invention is to provide a bag holder and bag dispensing device having a plurality of vertically disposed members joined to each other to form an enclosure and being rotatably mounted on a suitable base, with holes in the said members through which the bottom portions of a plurality of bags are adapted to pass with means for retaining said bags in position and limiting the withdrawal of sa-idbags from said device to one bag at a time.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, the numeral 10 indicates a base portion which may be aseparate base portion or the 49 counter of a store or any other suitable support, which has fixedly mounted therein the upwardly projecting bolt 11, which is secured in the base portionrby means of the nuts 12 and 13. Resting on the nut 12 is the flanged nut 14 which isinteriorly threaded to receive the pipe 15, which pipe projects upward and is secured on the bolt 11 by means of the nut 16 on the upper end of the bolt 11.

The member 27 on the opposite side ofthe members 18, 21 and 23 is hingedly secured to' the member 25 by the hinge 33 and has a hinge 34 on the other side thereof whichis adapted to he passed over the staple 35 with the pin 36 therein to hold the door 27 in closed position.

Each of the members 23 to 28 inclusive has the holes 40 and .41 therein with the ledge members, 42 and 43 being secured at the lower edge thereof, and a'batch of bags such as indicated by'the numerals'44 and 45 are'adaptedto'b'e placed insideof the device with the bottom ends of the bags being exposedby the holes 40 and 41, and the bottom portions of'the bags 46 and 47 are readily accessible to the storekeeper. Above each of the holes 40 and 41 are secured the bolts 48 on which the leaf springs 49 and 50'arese' cured, and on the lower end of the spring 49 there is the follow'block 51 which is adapted to press against the bottom portions of the bags and force them out against the ledge 43 or 42 as the case may be, and the'lower end of the spring 50 has the follow'block 52 thereon, which is adapted to press against the upper portions of the bags an'd'hold them These holes 40 and 41 may be of any desired size, and it is my purpose to have holes of various sizes to accommodate the various sizes of paper bags so that the Storekeeper can readily obtain the size of bag he desires, 1

and if it is not, visible upon glancing at the device, he can give the device a partial revolution until the desired bag appears, at which time he can take hold of the portion 46 or 47 and raise the bag slightly u award over the ledge 42 or 43 and pull the loag out of the device and at the same time the follow blocks 51 and 52 will press the batch of bags against the ledge 43 or 42 and also press the upper ends ofthe bags againstthe member, such as 24. v

In the drawings and specification I have set forth a preferred embodiment of my invention, and although specific terms are employed, they are used in a generic and descriptive sense only, and not for purposes of limitation, the scopeof the invention being set forth in the appended claims. 7

,I claim: a 7 i 1. In a bag holding and dispensing device, a polygonal hollow member mounted for rotation on a base member, opposite side portions being hinged to permit admittance to the interior thereof, a plurality of holes in the side portions of said polygonal member thru which the 'bottom portions of paper bags are adapted to be pulled from the interior thereof, a spring-pressed follow member for forcing thebottom portions of the bags out thru the holes, and a spring-pressed member adapted to press against another portion of the bags to' prevent wholesale withdrawal of the bags, and a ledge member secured at the outer bottom portion of each hole against which the bags are adapted to be pressed by the said follow member.

In a bagholding and bag dispensing device, a board member, a hole in the board member, a ledge associated with the outer lower portion of the hole, a follow member mounted on a spring and being adapted to presstoward said ledge member, a second follow member mounted :on a relatively shorter spring than the first named follow member, and being adaptedto press toward the said board member, the said follow members being adapted to receive bags between said follow members and the said ledge and said .board member and to press the same against the said ledge andsaid board member.

3., In a device of the character described, in combination abase, a post secured tosaid base, a pipe secured on said post and adapted to rotate with respect to the post, a series of platforms secured on the pipe, said platforms decreasing in diameter as they extend upwardly, a plurality of fiat members secured around the entire periphery of the said platforms, a pluralityof-holes in each of said flat members, the lower'edgeof each ofthe holesbeing flush withthe platforms, a batch of bags being adapted to be placed against the interior surface of each of thefiat mem- 'Gii bers: and having their lower-ends adapted to of said hole for limiting the outward movement of said bags, and spring pressed members adapted to press the bottom portions of said bags outwardly thru the hole, and additional spring pressedmeans for holding the &

upper portions of the bags against the interior surface of said flat member.
