, My invention relates to socket wrench sets, and the principal object of my invention'is to provide a socket wrench set assembled in a manner convenient for merchandising. In the embodiment of my invention herein shown I have assembled six sockets 11 each provided with an aperture 12 extending entirely through the socket 11 and terminating at one side in a handle-receiving recess Band at the other side in a nut-receiving recess 14, the nut-receiving recesses 14 varying in size over the six sockets 11 to form a regular progression from a smallest recess 14: in the smallestsocket 11 adapted to receive a relal tively smallest nut to a largest recess 14 in a largest socket 11 adapted to receive a relatively largest nut, and the handle receiving recesses 13 all being alike and adapted to receive either the end 15 of the long arm 16 of an L-shaped handle 17 or the end 18 of the short arm 19 of this L-shaped handle 17, each of the ends 15 and 18 of the handle 17 being pro vided with stops 20 to limit the insertion of i the handle 17 into the socket 11, and with spring pressed detents 21 tending to hold the handle 17 engaged with any socket 11 with which thehandle 17 has been assembled.

After assembling these six sockets 11, and

this handle 17 I unite them into a single uni- "tary set by means of a stringer adapted to be passed through the apertures 12 of the sockets loop 24: to form a short arm 25, then bent at right angles to the plane of the loop 24 to form a long arm 26 extending along the long arm 16 of the handle 17, adapted to be passed through the apertures 12 of the sockets 11 and to receive the sockets 11 thereon, and finally terminating in jaws 27 adapted to em brace the end 18 of the short arm 19 of the handle 17, the arms 25 and 26 of the stringer 22 being so proportioned relative to the arms 16 and 19 of the handle 17 that when the set is assembled the loop 24 encircles the end 15 of end 15 and the jaws 27 grip the end 18 of the short arm 19 of thehandle 17 at a point in wardly of the stops 20 on the end 18.

Of course it will be understood by those skilled in the art that the sockets 11 may be disassembled from the handle 17 and from the stringer 22 to permit use of any one socket 11 with either end15 or 18 ofthe handle 17 merely by springing the jaws 27 over the stops 20 of the end 18 of the handle 17 to remove the jaws 27 from about the end 18 of the handle l7, slipping the loop 2 1 from the end 15 of the wrench 17, and then removing the Various sockets 11 from the stringer 22 over the jaws 27 by springing the jaws 27 in the reverse direction. Also it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that normally, and until this intentional disassembly occurs, the stringer 22 will hold the sockets 11 assembled with the handle 17, that the single stringer 22 thus I unites the six sockets 11 and the handle 17 into a single unitary package obviously well adapted for merchandising.

Under these circumstances it will be clear that the embodiment of my invention herein shown and described accomplishes at least, the principal object of my invention, yet at the same time it also will be understoodby those skilled in the art that this embodiment of my invention herein shown and described embodies advantages other than those specifically pointed out or suggested herein, and also I that this particular embodiment of myinvention maybe variously changed and modified without departing from the spirit of my invention, or sacrificing the advantages thereof, wherefore it will be understood that disclosure herein is illustrative only, and that my invention is not limited thereto.

I claim:

1. A socket wrench set holder, for holding a set of sockets each having an aperture eX- tending therethrough and terminating at one side in a handle-receiving recess and at the other side in a nut-receiving recess, said handle-receiving recesses allbeing 7 adapted to receive the same handle, said holder comprising: a handle, formed at at least one end to be inserted into any one of said handle-receiving recesses; and a stringer, adapted to be passed through said apertures of said sockets to receive said sockets on a portion of said stringer, and formed on each side of said portion to be secured to said handle.

A socket Wrench set holder, for holding a set of sockets each having an aperture extending therethrough and terminating at one side in a handle-receiving recess and at the other side in a nut-receiving recess, said handle-receiving recesses all being adapted to receive the same handle, said holder comprising: a handle, formed at at least one end to be inserted into any one of said handlereceiving recesses; and a stringer, adapted to be passed through said apertures of said sockets to receive said sockets on a portion of said stringer, and formed on each side of said portion to grip said handle.

A socket wrench set holder, for holding a set of sockets each having an aperture extending therethrough and terminating at one side in a handle-receiving recess and at the other side in a nut-receivin recess, said handle-r eceiving recesses all eing adapted to receive the same handle, said holder, comprising: a handle, formed at'at least one end to be inserted into any one of said handlereceiving recesses; and a stringer, adapted to be passed through said apertures of said sockets to receive said sockets on a portion of said stringer, and formed on each side of said portion to grip said handle, on one side by encircling said handle, and on the other side by engaging said handle between resilient aws.

4. A socket wrench set holder, for holding a. set of sockets each having an aperture extending therethrough and terminating at one side in a handle-receiving recess and at the 5. A socket wrench set holder, for holding a set of sockets each having an aperture eX- tending therethrough and terminating at one side in a handle-receiving recess and at the other side in a nut-receiving recess, said handle-receiving recesses all being adapted to receive the same handle, said holder comprising: an L-shaped handle, formed at at least one end to be inserted into any one of said handle-receiving recesses; and an L-shaped stringer, adapted to be passed through said apertures of said sockets to receive said sockets on a portion of one arm of said stringer, and formed on said one arm beyond said portion, and also on the other arm, to grip said handle.

A socket wrench set holder, for holding a set of sockets each having an aperture extending therethrough and terminating at one side in a handle-receiving recess and at the other side in a nutreceiving recess, said handle-receiving recessesall being adapted to receive the same handle, said holder comprising: an L-shaped handle, formed at at least one'end to be inserted into any one of said handle-receiving recesses; and an L- shaped stringer, adapted to be passed through said apertures of said sockets to receive said sockets on a portion of one arm of said stringer, and formed on said one arm beyond said portion, and also on the other arm, to grip said handle, on said one arm by engaging one arm of said handle between resilient jaws, and on said other arm by encircling the other arm of said handle.
