Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
WILLIAM H. TRISSLER, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT v IN PLOW-POINTS.
- Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 174,449, dated March 7, 1876 application filed January 21, 1876.
. To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. TRISSLER, of Cleveland, in the county of Guyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certainnew and useful Improvements in Plow Points, of which the following is a specification:
The object of this invention is to construct a plow-point which can be secured to a plow in place of its point after the said point has become too much worn for further efficientuse of the plow. The said invention, therefore, consists of the pieces described, as follows:
In the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, A is a plow, provided with one of the plow-points forming the subject of this invention. B is the new point proper. U and D are twoslde pieces of flat metal let into. the point Bso as to be flushvwith its surface, and riveted to it at the point E. The point B is to be made of metal as hard as it is possible to obtain; but the side pieces are to be made of malleable iron, having their surfaces Well tinned. I
This plow-point is attached to the plow in the manner described as follows:
The old and worn point of the plow A is first well cleaned by means of some suitable acid, and then suitably coated by being plunged into a bath of molten metal, when the new point, consisting of the three pieces B G D, is
vpoints, which firmly secures the new point to the plow, so that it will stand the roughest usage to which it can be exposed in the ordinary work of plowing.
Having thus fully described this improved plow point and its method of attachment, I
claim- 1. A plow-point adapted for attachment to a plow, consisting of the three pieces B CD,
riveted together substantially in the manner hereinbefore set forth.
2. A plow provided with a point consisting of the three pieces B O D, riveted to each other and secured to the'plow, substantially in the manner hereinbefore described, for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses. WILLIAM H. TRISSLER.
Witnesses: DAVID STRAUS, FRANK STRAUS.
