This invention relates to improvements in shutters or doors of the general character shown and Adescribed in Letters Patent of the United States No. 1,492,420, dated April 29, 1924.
In curtains of this general character th major portion of the shutter or door is comrised of a series of' metal plates each `having horizontally disposed hooks at the lateral edge portions thereof embracing an adjacent plate and each having a downturned flange on its upper end and an upturned flange on its lower end providing each plate with top and bottom hooks adapted to enter and leave bottom and top hooks, respectively, when the plates of the shutter or door are lowered andraised relatively to one another in closing and opening the same.
The object of the present invention is to improve and strengthen the plates in the regions of their connections with one another and thereby render them more durable -andefcient when in service. y l
The invention consists of the elements and the combinations of them hereinafter described andclaimed. l

Referring to the drawings, the shutter or door comprises a series of plates 3 each having blocks 4 secured to the lower corners thereof and each having a down turned flange 7 on its upper end, providing a downwardly opening hook, and an upturned flange 9 on its lower end, providing an upwardly opening hook.
The blocks 4 on the respective sides of each plate 3 are` alike excepting that they are made right and left, and, therefore, a description of one will suffice for both.
Each block 4 comprises a body 1() having a horizontally disposed hook 11 formed thereon, all parts of the block being shaped The end portion of the flange 9ito which the block 4 is secured terminates, lat 14, inwardly of a vertical plane extending from the adjacent vertical edge of the body of the plate 2 at right angles thereto; and that portion of the block 4 which extends between such plane and the end 14 of the flange 9` is offset, providing a wall 15 which forms a cavity 16 between it and the body of the plate 2. This wall 15 also forms the inner wall or part of the hook 11and it extends in alinement with the plate flange 9v and forms, in effect, a continuationthereof.
The block 4 is provided with an extension 17 which forms the bottom wall of the cavity 16 and which also forms a continuation of the block body and a continuation of the bottom of the wall and the bottom of the block body'k 10 and itsextension 17 is made rounded and snugly fitted within the rounded bottom portion 18 of they plate 2 which connects the flange 9 with the main body of the plate and which extends beneath the block extension 17 from the vend 14 `of the flange 9 to the adjacent lateral edge of the plate 2 and forms a backing or support for the block l and itsextension .17.'

1. A shutter or door plate having an upturned flange on its lower end providing a hook to receive the reverse hook of a second plate, said flange being provided with an end portion terminating inwardly of and spaced from a vertical plane extending at right angles from the adjacent lateral edge of the body of the plate, a connecting block having a horizontally disposed hook adapted to embrace the lateral edge portion of said second plate vand having a part extending between said plane and said endv portion in spaced relation to the body of the plate and providing a cavity between it and the body of the plate to receive a horizontally disposed hook of a third plate, and means for securing the plate and the block together.
5. A shutter or door plate having an upturned flange on its lower end providing a hook to receive the reverse hook of' a second plate, said flange being provided with an end portion terminating inwardly of and spaced from a vertical plane extending at right angles from the adjacent lateral edge of the body of the plate, a connecting block having a horizontally disposed hook adapted to embrace the lateral edge portion ol said second plate and having a part extending between said plane and said end portion in spaced relation to the body of the plate .and providing a cavit between it and the body of the plate to receive a horizontally disposed hook of a third plate, said block being provided with an extension forming a bot tom wall for said cavity, and means for securing the plate and the block together'.
6. A shutter or door plate having an upturned flange on its lower end providing a hook to receive the reverse hook of a second plate, said flange being provided with an end portion terminating inwardly of' and spaced from a vertical plane extending at right angles from the adjacent lateral edge of the ing .a horizontally disposed hook adapted to body of the plate, a connecting block havembrace the lateral edge portion of said second plate and having a part extending between said planev and said end portion in spaced relation to the body of the plate and providing a cavity between it and the body of the plate to receive a horizontally disposed hook of a third plate, said block being provided with an extension formin a bottom wall for said cavity, and the pte having a part extending beneath said extenson, and means for securing the plate and the block together.
7. A shutter or door plate having an upturned flange on its lower end providing a hook to receive the reverse hook of a second plate, said flange being provided with an end portion terminating' inwardly of and spaced from a vertical plane extending at :right angles from the adjacent lateral edge .of the body of the plate, a connecting block interposed between and engaging the flange and the oppo-sing part of the body of the plate and having a horizontally disposed hook .adapted to embrace the lateral edge portion of said second plate and said block having a. part extending between said plane and said end portion in spaced relation to the body of the plate and providing a cavity between it and the body of the plate to receive a horizontally disposed hook of a third plate, and means for securing the plate and the block together.
8. A shutter or door plate having a connecting block secured thereto and provided with a horizontally dis osed hook adapted to embrace the lateral e ge portion of a second plate, said block having a part extending in spaced relation to said plate and providing a cavity between the plate and the block to receive a horizontally disposed hook of a third plate. y
9. A shutter or door plate having a connecting block secured thereto and provided with a horizontally disposed hook adapted to embrace the lateral edge portion of a second plate, said block having a part extending in spaced relation to said plate and providing a cavity between the plate and the block to receive a horizontally disposed hook of a third plate, and the plate having a supporting part extending beneath the block.
