UNITED, STATES FRED STONE, OF ROSALIA, WASHINGTON.
- COMBINATION CIGARETTE OR CIGAR AND M ATCH.
Application filed February 4, 192 6. Serial No. 86,027.
This invention relates to a combination cigarette and match and aims to provlde an article of this character which is simple 1n its construction and attractive in its appear- 6 ance and which always insures the provision of a match for lighting the cigarette whenever the cigarette is available.
In carrying out the invention. a match is combined with each cigarette in such a manner that it may be disassociated from the cigarette and used to light the same wlthout injuring the cigarettes structure. I e
Other objects and advantages reside in certain novel features of the construction,
arrangement andcombination of parts wh ch will be hereinafter more fullydescribed and particularly pointed out in the appended claim, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which:
Figure 1 is a' perspective view showing a package of cigarettes embodying the present invention,
Figure 2 is a detailview in longitudinal section showin one of the combination cigarette and mate carriers embodying the present invention, 1
- Figure 3 is a detail view in section on the line 33 of Figure 2,
a0 Figure 4 is a plan view of the blank which provides a cigarette paper and match carrier when rolled about sembled with the match,
Figure 5' is a pers as another embodiment o' the invention, V
\ Figure 6 is a view in diagrammatic longitudinal section illustrating the cigarettes of the pack shown in Figure 5, I
Figure 7 is a perspcctiv view showing the combination cigar and ma oh, and
' Figure 8 is a perspective view showing another modificationof the combination cigarette and match.
Referring to the drawings andmore particularly to Figures 1 to 4, inclusive, it will be seen, in this embodiment, that the present invention proposes cigarettes having a wrafp- 7 ts o a ping or cigarette paper which consis the tobacco and as-" tive view showing dinal y on the outside held to the cigarette'by virtue of its engagerectangular blank or sheet of paper rolled about a filling 2 of tobacco. The overlapping, edges 3 of the cigarette paper may be secured together by means of a suitable adhesive-if it is found desirable to do so. Centrally one of the edges 3 is provided with" an extension or tab 4 which inthe assembly extends circumferentially around the cigarette paper. As illustrated to advantage in Figures 1 and 3 a match 5 is confined by the tab .4 and the wrapping of the cigarette and is held to the cigarette by virtue of the fact that the inner surface of the outer end of thetab is gummed, as at 6, whereby it may be fastened to the wrapper of the cigarette after being firmly drawn over and engaged withthe match.
In the form of the invention shown in Figure 5 the tabs are omitted and the cigarettes are constructed in the ordinary manner, and consist of the wrap ing of paper 1 .and tobacco filling 2. In this embodiment of the invention the matches 5 have their shanks 5 imbedded in the tobacco filling 2. The heads of the matches, project above the tobacco filling.
shown in Figure 7 a cigar, such as shown at 10, may be provided and having a band 11 securing the stem of a match 12 thereto. i
In the form of the invention shown in 'Fi ure 8 a cigarette, designated at 15, is proper and holding the stem of a match 18so as to support the match against the outside of the wrapper ,of the cigarette. I claim V In combination with a cigarette having a. wrapping and a filling of tobacco, the wrapping having overlapping edgcssecured together, the outer overlappin edge having a tab extending circumferentia 1y of the map ping and having its outer end fastened to-the Wrap ing, and a match extendinglongituof the wrapping and ment with'the tab.
