SPINNING TOY.
Applicationfiled January 26, 1927. Serial No. 163,692.
The present invention consists in the provision of a spinning toy.
A particular object of this invention is to provide a spinning toy with a fire cracker or cartridge.
A further object of this invention is to provide a spinning toy with a musical device.
A further object of this invention is to provide an improved top or spinning toy that when the cord is unwound it causes the spinning device to go up and then down. Other objects and, advantages Wlll appear in the following specification and the novel features of the invention will be particularly ointed out in the appended claim. In t e drawing:
Fig. 1, represents aperspective view 0 the spinning toy.-
Fig. 2, shows a view of the top or spinning device.
, Fig. 3, shows a sectional view of the musical device set in the spinning toy.
Fig. 4, shows a view of the cartridge cap 5 on the stem.
Fig, 5, shows a modified form of stem.
In carrying out my invention, I provide a handle 1, which has an opening 2, and a slot 3. Through the opening 2, I insert the top or spinning device 4, made out of wood or metal, attached to stem 6.
On the stem 6, I wind a cord 7, as shown, the end of the cord is inserted through the opening anddrawn through the slot 3. o At the bottom of the stem 6,.I insert a spike 8 with a flange 9, and projection 10.
On the projection 10,-I fit a cartridge 11,
partly filled with powder.
provide an opening ortwo 12 wherein.
sert a whistle or musical device 13, having a prong 1 which is caused to vibrate by the Wind owing through the opening 12. In operation, the stem 610i the spinning the projection 10 and the stem is inserted Inthe portion 4 of the spinning toiy, I
toy is wound, and theicartridge 11 set on' in the opening 2 of the handle and the cord set through the slot 3. The handle is held in one hand and the cord drawn with the I other hand. This causes the spinning toy to rise in the air and then come down with force. In so doing, it causes the cartridge to explode, and the toy keeps on spinning for In operation the pin 19 is drawn down,
against the spring and a paper cap 25 is inserted in the slot 17 between the metal plates 18 and 21 and the spring 20 holds the cap in place. When the toy is operated, the point 24 of the pin 19 hits the ground and explodes the paper cap and the toy keeps on spinning.
What I claim is:
In a device of the class described, an elon gated handle having a perforation there-- throu h at one end thereof-and an open slot exten ing from the perforation to the edge of said handle, a spinning device comprising a body and an elongated stem, a cord wound around the stem, said stem with cord adapted to pass perpendicularly to the baildle and through said perforation, the end of saidcord adapted to drop into said slot, said slot then being covered by said body,
isaid stem having the lower end pointed, and a removable cartridge cap fitting'frictionally over said pointed stem end.
Signed at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, this 19th day of January, A. D. 1927." I LUNZ.
