LIP-STICK HOLDER.
Application fled November 4, me. Serial No. 148,186.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in lip stick holders, and the primary object thereof is to rovide a holder having improved means which enable a worn lip stick to be easily and quickly removed and a fresh one applied from the bottom of the holder.
A further object of the invention is to provide a holder whichhas novel means of economical constructlon for effecting easy, quick and positlve movement of the lip st ck, into and out of the holder.
The invention has still further and other objects which will be later set forth and manifested in thecourse of the following description.
In the drawings Fig. 1 is a side elevation of the-mvention 0 with the parts in inoperative and housed position; v Fig. 2 is a lon showing the parts 1n operative -pos1t1 on;
Fig. 3 is a section on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.

ent invention a sleeve-like casing 1' is employed having a bead 2 near its top forms a stop for a cap 3. -A rotatab e e11"-- cular head 4 engages thebase of the casing 1 sleeve 6. The upper end of the casin 1 is inturned as in icated at 7, so as to ho d the 'sleeve 6 against longitudinal movement. The sleeve 6 is formed with a spiral slot 8, while the sleeve 5 is formed with an axial slot 9. The lip stick-10 is formed with a metallic ferrule 11, the latter having an outwardly projectin pin 12 thereon. The cap 4 is removable f i'om the inner tube 5, and is provided with an instruck part 14 which latter enters a slot 9' of an offset 15 of sleeve 5 when the parts are in operative position.
As shown in Fig. 2, the lower end of the sleeve 5 where offset at 15, receives the head 4 and also provides a shoulder 16 on which the lower end of the outer sleeve 6 seats. slot 10' is formed in the inturned edge of thecasing.
In operation the cap 4 is removed and the In proceeding in accordance with the p'rqeth t stick having aferrule thereon, a projection and is mounted on an inner rotary sleeve 5, the latter being surrounded by an outer fixed lip stick inserted into the bottom end of the casing so as to have its pin 11 enter the spiral slot 8 and the slot 9, whereupon the cap 4 is applied to the end 15 of the sleeve 5 and serves as a means of rotating the latter thereby effecting in and out movements of the hp stick with respect to the casing 1.
From the foregoing it will be seen that the lip stickis thus inserted from the botinturned top edge, a fixed sleeve in the cas- .7
. ing having a spiral slot extending through its bottom end, a rotary sleeve in the fixed sleeve having an axial slot extending through its bottom end, said rotary sleeve having its lower end offset outwardly and slotted, a lip on'the ferruleg-receivable in the sleeve slots, the 11p stick being insertable into the rotara sleeve from the bottom thereof, and a hea on the ofiset part of the rotary sleeve having an mstruckpart'received in the slot of the offset-part 2. In a lip stick holder, .a casing, a-fixed sleeve m the casing having a spiral slotextcn ding through-its bottom end, a rotary sleeve in the fixed sleeve having an axial slot extending through its bottomend, a lipstick having a ferrule thereon provided with a'. projection that isr'eceivedin the sleeve slots, the lip stick" being insertable in the casing through the bottom "end of the rota sleeve, and 'a head for rotating the rotary eeve removably "connected thereto. p v
3. In a lip stick holder, a casing having a lip stick inlet in its bottom and an ii'utlet at its top, a lip stick having a ferrule thereon,
A rotary means in the casing to actuate the lip stick into and out of the outlet, means communicating with the inlet whereby to connect the ferrule to said rotary means upon loo insertion of the lip stick into the inlet, and means to actuate the rotary means.
4. In a lip stick holder, a casing having a lip lick inlet in its bottom and an outlet at its top, a lip slick having a ferrule thereon, rotary means in the casing to actuate the lip stick into and out of the outlet, means communicating with the inlet whereby to connect the ferrule to said rotary means H upon insertion of the lip stick into the inlot, and also communication with the outlet whereby to eject the ferrule through the outlet when said connecting means alines with the outlet.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
