BRICK MOLD.
Application Ied December 23, 1925, Serial No. 77,205. Renewed February 5, 1927.
My invention relates primarily to a mold for use in forming brick or blocks of plastic material such as cement, concrete or clay and the like and the object thereof is to provide a unitary mold of the multiple type by means of which a plurality of brick or blocks can be castat the same time.
Other objects and advantages will appear hereinafter and while I have shown and will describe the preferred form of my invention it will be understood that I do not limit myself to such preferred form but that various changes and adaptations may be made therein without departing` from the .spirit of my invention.
In the drawings accompanying and forming a part hereof:
F ig. 1 is a top plan of my improved mold.
Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. a
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one of the brick or blocks produced with my mold.
Referring to the drawings my mold comprises a substantially rectangular frame open at both top and bottom and comprisi r. *Le
ing the side walls 5 and 6 and the end walls 7 and S.
Secured at their ends to the end walls 7 and 8 and extending parallel with the side walls 5 and 6 are a plurality of equally spaced partitions 9., forming with the said side walls a plurality of parallel'troughs or chambers 10.` Secured at each end of these chambers 10 are substantially L-shaped cores 11, which are secured to the adjacent side and end walls, and mounted within said chambers at equally spaced distances apart and in the longitudinal center thereof are a plurality of rectangular cores 12. Cores 12 are substantially rectangular in top plan and in transverse section and are hollow and are integrally secured to the side walls and partitions by transverse webs 13 and 14, it being noted that these webs are positioned relative to the cores to correspond with the type or shape of the brick to be produced. In the drawings (Fig. 3) I have shown a brick of substantially H-shape with staggered legs, that is the adjacent ends of opposite legs are different in length, but any other shape may be produced equally well as will be obvious. Secured to the outer face of the end members or walls 7 and 8 at the upper edges thereof are cross bars 15 and 16, the ends of which project beyond the side members 5 and 6 and are shaped to form handles 17 and 18 for use in transporting the mold from place to place and for removing the saine from the finished brick.
Having described my invention what I claim is:
1. A brick mold comprising a rectangular frame; partitions dividing said frame into a plurality of troughs; substantially L- shaped cores mounted at each end of each of said troughs, the cores in each trough being opposed relatively to each other; a
plurality of rectangular cores mounted in each of said troughs on the longitudinal center thereof and equally spaced apart; webs connecting said rectangular cores to said partitions, the webs of each core being in staggered relation whereby a substantially H-shaped mold is provided the adjacent ends of the legs 0f which are of different lengths.
2. A brick mold comprising a substantially rectangular frame; partitions dividing said frame into a plurality of parallel troughs, a substantially L-shaped core mounted at one side of each end of each of said troughs in opposite relation to each other; a plurality of rectangular cores mounted in each of said troughs to extend longitudinally and on the longitudinal center thereof and being equally spaced apart; webs extending from said partition to said cores integral therewith said webs extending from near opposite ends thereof, said partitions, cores and webs being of equal depth and forming a plurality of substantially H-shaped molds.
In witness that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed my name this 21st day of November 1925.
