LAND-ROLLER FRAME.
Original application filed May 2'5, 1925, Serial No. 32,850, Divided and this application filed January 28,
1926. Serial No. 84,367.
The invention relates to land roller frames and has for its object to provide a device of this character comprising a rectangular shaped frame, the ends of which are formed by downwardly extending brackets which are detachably connected to the roller carry-- ing frame and connecting means'between the brackets and the transverse bars of the rectangular shaped frame whereby the brackets may be easily and quickly removed from the frame for allowing easy access to the discs of'the roller or other parts for repair and assembling purposes.
A further object is to provide the ends of the frame with downwardly extending brackets disposed outside of the end plates of the roller carrying frame and adjacent said end plates and detachable connections between the brackets and the ends of the frame whereby they may be easily and quickly detached from the frame and moved outwardly, thereby allowing the ends of the roller carrying frame to be quickly disassembled or assembled.
A further object is to provide the end brackets of the weight carrying frame with means whereby they may be easily and quickly detached from the transversely disclosed bars of the weight carrying frame by loosening bolts carried by the brackets.
A further object is to provide the brackets in their upper sides with longitudinally disposed slots in which are slidably mounted headed bolts adapted to be received in recesses in the horizontal flanges of the transversely disposed weight frame bars, and bolts extending through recesses in the vertical flanges of the transversely disposed bars and carried by the brackets, and which bolts, when loosened, allow the brackets to be easily removed from the bars without entirely removing the bolts, thereby allowing the rollers to be easily disassembled as desired.
With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawing, described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawing brackets and Figure 1 is a rear elevation of the land roller and frame. 1 p a Figure 2 is a perspective view of the frame and parts of thebrackets.
Figure 3 is a detailsectional view through one of the corners of one of the the transverse angle bars.
The present application is a divisional on 1 of my c'opending application Serial 7N0. 82,850 filed May 25,1925. 4 r I Referring-to the drawings the letter A designates a weighting carrying frame and B: the roller carrying frame. The weight carrying frame A comprises transversely disposed parallel angle bars 1, which angle bars are connected together substantially cen cesses at extending inwardly from their outer edges and which recesses receive the vertically disposed bolts 5, which are slidably mounted in the longitudinally disposed slots 6 in the upper bars 7 of the vertically disposed brackets 8, therefore it will be seen the bolts 5 may be easily and quickly moved into and out slots 6 for securing the brackets 8 to the bars 1 or releasing the same. The vertically disposed flanges 9 of the bars 1 are provided with vertically disposed recesses 10, which receive the bolts 11 carried by the sides of the brackets 8, therefore it will be seen the brackets may be easily and quickly (1etached from the bars 1 by simply loosening the bolts 5, moving the same to the dotted line position shown in Figure 3 and loosening the bolts 11, after which the weight carrying frame as a whole may be lifted from the brackets 8 which carry the rollers 12 and 18 when it is desired to change the number of discs in the rollers 12 and '13 or for any other purpose, for instance if desired only one bracket 8 may be removed for repair or assembling purposes.
It will be noted that brackets 8 are in spaced parallel relation, and by loosening and manipulating the bolts 5 and 11 as above set forth, either of the brackets 8 may be easily and quickly removed from the frame A without disassembling the frame,
transversely through one of of the recesses 4 while in the 7 tion or connection between the weight carry- I and said brackets may be removed after loosening the bolts by an outward movement of the brackets.
Although the device has been shown in connection wlth a specificrocking construcing frame andtheroller carrying frame, it is obvious that the bracket connection is applicable to diflerent kinds of land rollers or agricultural machines.
From the above it will be seen that means is provided whereby the brackets 8 of the weight carrying frame A may be easily and quickly disconnected from the bars 1 of the weight carrying frame, thereby allowing the roller frame to be easily disconnected to per- :mit the rollers to be adjusted or spaced on V theirshafts', rows of plants or the discs to be replaced for instance to pass between upon damage to any of the roller units.
The invenlion having been set forth what is claimed as new andus'etul is 1. The combination with a land roller comprising a weight carrying frame having one of. the flanges of which be moved out of engagement with the horizontal flanges, and bolts carried by the brackets and extending into posed recesses in the vertically disposed flanges of the bars.
2-. The combination with downwardly extending brackets carried by a land roller weight frame and having their upper ends engaged by angle bars, of bolts longitudivertically disnally movable in elongated slots of the brackets and shorter registering recesses of one of the flanges of the bars whereby said bar maybe quickly released, and boltscarried by said brackets and extending into recesses in the edges of the other flanges of the bars. I
3. The combination with the ends; of
transversely disposed angle bars of a welght carrying frame of a land roller, a downwardly extending brackets being disposed within the angle bars, of a connection between said bracket corners and angle bars, said connection comprising bolt-s extending through elongated slots in the bracket and regisieringrecesses in flanges of tne angle bars, said slots bemg v longer than the recesses and extending beyond the outer ends thereof, bolts angularly disposed in relation to the first mentioned bolis named bolts extending through recesses in the other flanges of the angle bars.
In testimony whereof I afflx my signature.
