STATES "PATENT WRENCH ADJ USTMEN T.
Application filed December The invention relates to a wrench adjustment, as described in the present specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings that form part of the same.
The invention consists essentially of the novel features of construction pointed out in the claim for novelty following a description containing an explanation indetail of an acceptable form of the. invention.
The objects of the invention are to increase the efficiency of a wrench and thereby reduce the labor cost; to strengthen the aws of the wrench and insure a firm grip of the Work; to avoid slipping of the jaws and the danger of injury to the hands of the operator; to facilitate the adjustment in a Wrench that will make it easy to control; and generally to provide a tool cheap to manufacture, durable in construction, and efficient for its purpose.
In the drawings, Fig. -1 1s a sectional view of the wrench head showing the adjustment,

The knurled lock-nut 22 has a spring split washer 23 and is threaded on the threaded end of the spindle 20 and is adapted tobe tightened thereon.
In the. operation of this invention the jaws are first suitably. spaced for the work and the lock-nut is then tightened and makes the slidable j aw rigid with its fixed jaw.
Many varying constructions can be made embodying the adjustment means as described without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What I claim is r A wrench comprising a fixed jaw and a handle, the latter having a Worm recess and spindle bearings at either end of said recess,
a spindle journaled in said bearings and having a threaded end projecting beyond one side of the handle, a worm fixedly mounted on said spindle within said recess, a movable aw having a rack coacting with said worm and sliding into said fixed jaw and thereaga'inst, a knurled lock-nut threaded on the threaded end of said spindle, and a. spring washer introduced between said locknut and the side of the handle.
