DRINK MIXER.

The invention relates to motor-driven drink-mixers, und its primary object 1s to provicle an improved mixer in whieh mar1ual shift of the drink-receptacle or contzuner brings .the agitator ancl conta iner 1nt0 and out of proper operative relat10n. Apother object is to provide improved autorrmuc controlling mechanism for the electnc motor.
The1nvention consists in the several novel features hereinafter set forth and more p:articularly defined by claims at the conclusxon hereof.

The invention is exemplified in 21 structure comp1ising a base 6 adapted to PCS: on a tableor munter; a bracket 7 prov1de-:l with a member 8 suitably secured to said base and integral stzinclards 9 and 10; an electrie molor 11 provided with fixed trunnions 12 Whi0h are pivotally hold in opentopped pockets 13 formed in standards 9 ancl 10 and which pivotally support the motor; an archecl tubular support 14 which l1as one of its enrls fixed in the motor-cas1ng sind carries a*bearing 15 at its other end; a shaft 16 mounted in sairl bearing and lmving a clrinkagitator 17 fixed to its lower end; and a flexible shaft 18 which-extends through tube 14 ancl has its ende se cured to tl1e shaft- 19 of tl1e motor and the agitutor-shaft 16 respeotively. A receptacle-holder 21 1s movable hor1zontally over the base a'nd to und fron1 bracket 7 in which the motor is hung and is pivotally connectod by wir'e-arms 22 to lugs 23 011 the motor-casing. 'lhis holder is annular or ring-like t0 extend around the tumbler 20, so that the holder may be shifte'd backwardly and forwardly by the manual shift of a tumbler held therein, thus making it possible to shiftthe motor and agitator together to positively raise and lower die latter into and out of its operative position in the tumbler, by the lnanual manipulation of the tumbler.
The automatic controlling means for the motor, whereby it will be caused to start while the agitator is being shifted t0 its operative position in the turnbler and to stop during its withdrawal, comprises a pair of springcontaets 25, 26 secured to a block of insulation 27 and respectively connected in suitable manner by conductors 28 to the rnotor; a lever 29 pivoteol to the motorcas- 11 1g a1; 30; arms 31 on lever 29 adapted to 11de 011 stationary can1s 32 on standards 9 und 10; a socket 33 0f insulating material fixed t0 lever 29; ancl pins 34 adapted to engage contacts 25, 26 respectively an l having a limited movementin sleeves 85 which are fixed in socket VVhile two arme 31 are shown for the purpose of shifting le"er 29, it Will be understood that one may be dispensed with. These pins are pressed in one direotion by Springs 36 hold in said sleeves. The conductors in a flexible cord 37 are comnected to the sleeves 35 respectively, each of whieh is in electrical contact with one of' the ins 34. Normally, the agitator is positioned as shown by otted lines in Fig. 1, so that there is suflicient clearance above the holder 21 to permit a receptacle of the proper size to be placed into the holder. This is the only movement necessary to establish operative relationship between the Container und the agitator und to start the motor. The backward shift of the holder will swing the motor in bracket 7 and cause the agitator, Which is movable with the motor, to be 10W- ered into its operative position-in the receptacle. Darin this movement of the motor, arms 31, as t ey ride down inclines 32 of cams 32, Will permit lever 29, under the force of spring 40, to swing around its pivot 30, and relatively to the motor-casing so the contact-pins 34 Will engage contacts 25, 26 und close the cirouit for the operation of, and start, the motor. During' the backward shift of the holder, the motor will tilt aeross its dead center so it will be automatically und self-retained in its operative position. VVhen the drink has been mixed, it is only necessary for the operator to manually shift the receptaele forwardly on the base and then lift it out of the holder. During this forward movement, the holder, as it is shifted by the receptaole, Will swing the motor to ra15e the agitator out of the receptacle und provide the necessary clearance for the eas removal of the receptacle with the drink, rorn the holder and base 6. During this movement, lever 29 Will be automatically operated by inoline 32 on cam 32 to separate pins 34 from contacts 25 26, and interrupt the motor-circuit so the motor Will stop, and the motor will pass aeross its deadeenter, so it will be automatically held in its inoperative position.
The invention exemplifies a drink-mixer, in which the manual shift of the receptacle shifts the agitator into and out of its operative position; in which such shift conjointly moves the motor and the agitator so a permahent driving connection between them can be used; which requires very little work ing spaco above the receptacle; which is operable by the manual shift of the reeeptacle and in which the motor is auto1natically started and stopped; in which the swinging motor and parts are pivoted so as to 11e automatically held in their alternative positions; Wl1ich is simple in construotion; und in whieh the weight of the parts is ntilized to retain them in their alternative positions.
The invention is not. to be understood as restrieted to the details set forth. since these may be modified within the scope of the appended claims, without dep-art1ng from the spirit und scope of the invention.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new und desire to seeure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In a drink mixer, the combination of a support, an electric motor mounted on said support, means to support a receptacle in operative position, an agitator driven by seid motor und movable into und out of operative position in the receptacle, and means to shift the agitator into its operative position operated entirely by the manipulation of the receptaele itself.
2. In a drink mixer, the combination of a support, means to support a receptacle in operative position, an agitator driven by said motor and ivotally movable to swing into and out of t e receptacle, and means to swing the agitator into its operative position in the receptacle, operated entirely by the manual manipulation of the receptacle itself.
3. In a drink mixer, the combination of a support, an electrie motor mounted on seid support, an agitator driven by said motor and movable into and out of the receptacle, and Ineans to shift the agitator into and out of its operative position in the receptacle operated positively by the manual manipulation of the receptacle itself.
4. In a drink mixer, the combination of a support, an electrie motor movably mounted on said support, means to hold a 1eceptacle in operative position, an agitator snpported to move with and driven by said motor and movable into and out of the receptacle, am] means to shift the motor and agitator.to bring the latter into its operative position in the receptacle, operated entirely by placement of the receptacle into its operative position. 5. In a drink mixer, the combination of a support, an electric motor movably mounted 011 said support, an agitator supported to move with and driven by said motor an'd movable into and out of the receptacle, and means to shift the agitator into und out of its operative position in the receptacle operated positively by the manual manipulation of the rece tacle itself.

In a rink mixer, the combination of a support, an electrie 1notor mounted on said supp0rt a movable holder for a receptacle, an agitator conhectedto be driven by the motor and movable into and out 0f the receptacle, and n1eans between the holder und the agitator to shift the latter into its operative position in the receptaole, operated by the manual shift of the receptacle itself.

In a drink mixer, the comb-ination of' a Support, an electric motor mounted on said support, a n1ovable holder for a receptacle, an agitator connected 130 be driven by the motor and pivoted to swing into and out of the receptacle, and means between the holder and the agitator to sl1ift the latter into its operative position in the receptacle, operated by the manual shift of the receptacle itself.

In a drink mixer, the combination of a support, an electric motor mounted on said support, an agitator connected to be driven by said motor and movable into and out of the recept-acle and a movable receptacle holder operable entirely loy the manual manipulation of the receptaole and con-l nected to positively shift the agitator into and out of its operative position in the receptacle itself. 10. In a drink mixer, the combination of a support, an electric motor movably mounted 0n seid support, an agitator supported to move with and driven by said motor and movable into and out of the receptacle, and a movable receptacle-holder operable by the manual manipulationof the receptacle itself 4 and connected to shift the motor to bring the agitator into and out of the receptacle.

In a drink mixer, the con1bination ot a support an electric motor pivotally 1nonnt 0d 011 said snpport, an agitator driven by said 1n otor and supported to swing with the motor and into and ont ot' the receptacle, and a. movable roceptaclo-holder operable by the. mannal 1nanipnlation ot' the receptacle itseli and connected to shi1't the n1otor to bring the agitator i nto and out of the receptacle.

In a drink n1ixer, the cornbination of a snpport, an eleetric n1otor rnovably monnted on said snpport, an agitator supported to move with and driven by said motor and 1novable into and out of the receptacle, and. a 1novable receptacle holder operable b v the manual manipnlation ot the receptacle itself and connected to positively sl1ift the n1otor to bring the agitator into and out of the re- -vptade.

In a drink 1n ixer, the. con1bination of a Support, an electrio 1notor pivoted 011 said snpport, an agitator movable With and driven by the inotor and n1ovable into and out of the receptacle means to shift the agitator to its operative position in the receptacle operated by the n1annal nnn1ipnlation of the reveptacle itself, and means to antonmtically hold the n1otor in alternative positions t0 retain the agitator in itS operative and inoperative positions respectively.

In a drink n1ixer, the ron1bination of a support, an electrio n1ot-or pivoted 011 said support, an agitator movable with and driven by the xnotor and movable into and out of the receptacle, and means to shift the agitator into its operative position in the receptacle operated by the manual manipnlation of the receptacle itself, the motor being pivoted to automatically and alternately retain the agitator in its operative and inoperative positions respectively.

In av drink mixen the co1nbination of asupport, an electric motor pivoted 0n said support, an agitator movable with and driven by the motor and movable into and out of the receptacle, and a holder connected to shift the agitator to and from its operative position in the receptacle, operated by the n1annal n1anipulation of the reoeptacle itself, said n1otor being connected to automatically retain the holder in its alternative positions.

In a drink mixer, the combination of a snpport, an eleotric 1notor n1ounted on said snpport, an agit-ator conneoted to be driven h v said 1notor and movable into and ont of the receptacle, a receptacle holder connect d to shift the agitator to and from its operative osition in the receptacle operated entirely by the manual manipulation oftl'1ereceptacle itself, and a switch for controlling the motor actuated by the mannal sl1ift o1 the rec-eptacle.

In a drink mixer, the combination of a snpport, an electric 111000r pivotally mounted 011 said support, an agitator movable with and driven by the 1110t0r and n1ovable. into and out of the receptacle, 1neans to shift the n1otor to bring the agitator into and ont of the receptacle, operated entiroly by the manual shift of the receptaclo, a switrh for nontrolling the 1notor n1onnted thereon, and antomatic controlling means for the switch oon1prising a stationary shifting element 011 the snpport.

In a drink -1nixer the combination of a support an electrio motor mounted 011 said snpport, an agitator driven by the motor and pivo tally n1ovable into and out of the receptacle, a receptacle-holder movable hor zontally over said support, und a connection to swing the agitator to und from its operativa position, operated entirely by manual shift of a receptacle in the holder.

24. In a drink mixer, t-he combinationof a Support provided with bearings, an electric motor provided with trunnions pivotally held in and readily removable from said bearings, an agitator driven by the motor und movable into und out of the receptacle by the tilting 0f the motor.

In a drink mixer, the combination 0f a support provided With open sockets, an electric motor provided with trunnions held in and removable from said sockets, an agitator driven by the motor and movable i1'1to und ont 0f a receptacle by the shift of the motor, am]. means for automatically cantrolling the motor comprising a swituh mounted on and rnovable with the motor and a stationary element on the support.

In a drink mixer, the combination of a support prvided with means for holdin a receptacle. an electric motor provided w1th an upwardly extending shaft, a depending shaft having an agitator connected thereto, supporting means between the upper ends of the ag1tator und motor shaf'ts whereby the agitator und shaft will be sustained to besh1ftable with the motor, a driving connection between the upper end of the motor shaft and the upper end of the agitator shaft, und a pivotal supporting connection for the motor, the agitator, driving connection und motor being conjointly shiftable to brin the agitator into and out 0f the receptac e.

In a drink mixer, the cornbination of means to hold a receptacle, a motor pivotally supported near the back of the receptacle ancl having an npwardly extending shaft, a (lependin sha.ft having an agitator thereon supporte to Swing with the motor to bring it into and out 0f the receptacle, arxd a driving connection between the upper end of the agitator-shaft und the uppe1 end 0f the motor shaft.

In a drink mixer, the combination of means t0 support a receptacle With an open top, 0f a motor, a pivotal support for the motor, an agitator, a fixecl supporting counection between the agitator and the motor whereby the gitator Will be shifted with the motor, a driving connection between tl1e agitator and the 1notor consisting 0f a flexible shaft between the upper end of the motor-shaft und the npper end of the agitator-shaft, the agitaton being 1novable into and out of the receptacle by the swinging 0f the xnotor.
