VEGETABLE AND FRUIT SLICER.

My invention relates to vegetable and fruit slicers or cutters, and it has for its object to provide a slicer for vegetables, or fruit, whereby a plurality of slices or cut tings may be made at one movement of the instrument; with these objects in view my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts as are more particularly described and point ed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of my device in closed position.

The same reference characters denote like parts in each of the several figures of the drawings. In carrying out my invention, I provide a cutting block A in which'may be provided on its upper surface a series of grooves and on either side at one end thereof are provided pivot lugs B. Mounted on the cutting block A I have the knife holder frame C provided with handle D. Sup ported in the frame C are the knives 2 each knife having projecting from the upper surface thereof at one end the lugs 3 and at the other end the lugs 3, each having respective recesses at and f. he frame C consists of the, side bars 5 and end bars (5 and (5', the end bar 6 having slots or re cess'es 7 and the end bar 6 having the recesses 7, the lugs 3 engaging the recesses 7 and the lugs 3 engaging the recesses 6. As shown in the drawing, wedge blocks 1) are provided for engaging the lugs 3 for holding the cutters in position in the frame, each wedge block engaging two of the cutters and being secured to the frame C by set screws 10.

The end bars 6 of the frame C may have down turned cars '12 having the pintles 18 for engaging hooks 1A of the lugs B, the

pintles being first normally upwardly against the lower surface 15 of the hooks 14 by means of suitable springs 13.

In the operation of my device when I desire to slice vegetables or other material by grasping the handle I) and lifting the cutter frame C, I raise the knives from the block surface and place to be cut, and be on the block A the object aring down on handle D,

a plurality of parallel uniform cuttings are made, forming elongated slices, from the ob ect out. By agaln turning the slices across the block,

and again cutting a plurality of short slices are formed, and in this manner, by changing the position of the material, a variety of sizes and forms of cuttings are made My device is especially adapted for slicing vegetables in various forms for cooking and table use.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and for which I desire Letters Patent is as follows:

1. In a vegetable slicer a cutting block, pivot supports mounted at either end of the cutting block, a cutter frame, a pair of pivot pins carried by the cutter frame and pivotally supported in the pivot supports,

springs for exerting a yielding pressure upwardly against the pivot pins, and a plurality of knives removably mounted on the cutter frame, and means for securing the knives in operative position.
