ADVERTISING-IDISPLAY DEVICE.

The present invention relates to a device for displaying advertisements of various kinds and aims to provide a device of this nature which is compact and convenient, simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, economically operable, efiicient and reliable, not likely to easily become out of order, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

With the above and numerous other ob jects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangemet of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the numeral 5' denotes a casing which is divided by a partition 6 into a front compartment A and a rear compartment B. A transparent panel 7 is mounted to close the open end of the compartment A and is provided with bracket members .8 for holding display cards interiorly of the panel. These cards are adapted to be placed over the major portion of the panel as is indicated in Fig. 1, but a substantially triangular space 9 is left vacant.

A shaft 10 is fixed on the partition 6 to extend forwardly into the compartment A and has rotatable thereon a pair of disks 11 each of which are provided with openings 12, said openings being radially disposed A ratchet 13 is fixed to each disk 11 to rotate about the shaft 10. The teeth of. the ratchets are oppositely disposed. A cruciform lever 14 is mounted on the shaft 10 be tween the ratchets 13 and one end thereof has a pin and slot connection 15 with a pitman 16 operable by a wheel 17 fixed on a drive shaft 18 journaled through the partition 6.

ends of the lever 14 and engage one with each ratchet 13. It will thus be seen that the disks 11 will be intermittently rotated in opposite directions for displaying alternately advertising matter carried thereon between the openings 12 through the transparency in space 9 heretofore referred to.

The advertising matter on the rear disk, of course, will be visible through an opening 12 in the forward disk when properly disposed. A spring pressed brake 20 is associated with the disks to prevent them from spinning freely after they have been actuated.

The shaft 18 is driven by a beveled gear 22 which is in mesh with a bevel-ed pinion 23 on a shaft 24 journaled in bearings 25 and driven by a beveled gear 26 and a beveled pinion 27, the latter being 'fiXed to a pulley 28 driven by a belt 29 or in any other suitable manner. It is preferable to provide a pair. of incandescent bulbs 30 in the bottom of the compartment A for lighting up the advertising matter on the disks 11.

It is thought that the construction, operation, utility, and advantages of this invention will now be clearly understood without a more detailed description. The present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in detail, since in actual practice, it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description. It is apparent that numerous changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed, or sacrificing any of its advantages.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is 1. In a display device, a casing, a shaft in the casing, a pair of disks rotatable on the shaft, one diskhaving openings to permit the portions of the other disk to be visible therethrough, a transparency associated with the casing, and permitting visibility to certain portions of the disks, a ratchet on each disk having its teeth disposed in opposite directions, a lever rotatable on the shaft and between the ratchets, spring pressed dogs on the lever engaging the ratchets, and means for oscillating the lever.

In a display device, a casing, a shaft in the casing, a pair of disks rotatable on the shaft, one disk having openings to permit the portions of the other disk to be visible therethrough, a transparency associated with the casing and permitting visibility to certain portions of the disks, a ratchet on each disk having its teeth disposed in opposite directions, a lever rotatable on the shaft and between the ratchets, spring pressed dogs on the lever engaging the ratchet-s, a pitinan, a pin and slot connection between the pitinan and the lever, a Wheel eccentrically engaged with the pitinan', a shaft for the Wheel, a gear on the second shaft, a third shaft journalcd in the casing, a pinion on the third shaft meshing with the gear, and means for rotating the third shaft.
