This invention relates to mechanism co` voperating with the plate of` a typewriter for facilitating feeding of the paper'thereon and has for-'its object the provision of such mechanism n which is adapted to various lengths of Vtypewriter platens, including those of eXtra lengths, and which shall be of 'improved construction and convenient and efficient in operation. l

In the embodiment of the invention illustrated, the numeral designatesa typewriter nplaten -journaled inV end platesv v11 which are connected by links l12 to theplaten carriageiframe 13, the links l2 permitting vertical casel shift movement of the platen. The shaft 27 is journaled in `the end plates 11 and the arms. 26 areprovided withv spaced perforated ears 28 and 29 'for `receivin'g the v.Shaft .27. The .bearing years 28 and 29 are connected .by va bridging member `30 bent over from the ear 29 which is ing face 31 than the unopened portion of the Y perforations in the years 28 and 29 so that a slight angular play `of the arms 26 on the shaft 27 ispermitted.

Any 4desired number of pairs canbe employed, dependingfupon theV length of the platen.l The rollers y'22v and 23 are provided' with pintles 35 at theirv ends which enter pivotalopenings' in the rocker arms 24 to permit rotation of the rollers. The rocker arms24 are spaced from one another by ,spacing bars 36 having pintles 37 at the ends thereof which` formV pivotal. supports for the rocker arms 24 and which extend through openings'in the supporting arms 26,. arms 47. Springs 52 surround the shaft 27 and bear upon screws 53 threaded in the projections 2O for adjusting the pressure of the vdeflector plate against the platen. The springs 52 are provided with laterally bent portions54 for engaging the lower edges of the arms 47. rlhe front portion of the plate 46 is shaped to lit the outer periphery of the platen, as shown at 55, and the rear edge is curved outwardly, as illustrated at 56, to receive the edge of thepaper. feed rollers pivoted thereon, spaced bars for said rocker bars having pintles lat the ends thereof extending through openings in said rocker bars and said supportingarms to provide a -pivotal connection therefor, springs for pressing said supporting arms to hold said feedv rollers in operating position, and
means for rotating said shaft to compress said springs and free said rollers.
