Description

Nov. 2 1926.
1,605,297 s. SLAVIN EAVES CONNECTION FOR SKYLIGHTS Original Filed March 1'7, 1925 Patented Nov. 2, 1926.
UNITED STATES SAMUELSLAVIN, OF DOBCHESTER, MASSACHUSETTS.
EAVES CONNECTION FOR SKYLIGHTS.
Original application filed March 17, 1925, Serial No. 16,172. Divided and this application filed November The present invention relates to eaves connection for skylights and the subject matter thereof has been divided from my pending application for improvements in skylights, filed March 1.7, 1925, serial No. 16,1?2.
The object 01" the invention is to provide a device of this nature which is simple in its construction, compact, strong, durable,
and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
lVith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing,
Figure 1 is a fragmentary sectional and elevational view of one side and end of a skylight embodying the feature of my in vention, and
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a side member used in the eaves connection.
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the numeral 1 designates the skylight generally, which includes the glass panels 3. The eaves member is designated generally by the numeral 28 and cooperates with the lower edge of the glass panel 3. The side member 28 includes a horizontal bight portion 29, a right angular depending flange 30, and an inclined flange '31, the bot tom edgeo'f the latter being shaped as shown at 32 to serve as a foot. A ridge 33 is provided at the juncture of the bight 29 and the flange 31 constitute an abutment against which the glass panel rests, as is clearly shown in Fig.1.
If desired, a condensation outlet or pipe 34 may be provided. Disposed within the member 28 is an angle iron 35, connected to the flange 3O resting upon a plate 36, being secured to the latter in any appropriate manner. This plate 36 is connected with a supporting bracket 37 secured to the sup- Serial No. 69,109.
port 38. Interposed between the inclined upperend portion of the bracket 37 and the plate 36 is a sheet of metal 38, having a down bent outer end 39 providing an apron. The lower end of the apron is constructed,
as indicated at 40 to provide a moistureangle iron having one portion fixed to the member and the other portion rising perpendicularly from the member, a combined abutment and supporting member for one end of an inclined glass comprising a body which is substantially of an inverted U- shaped formation in cross-section, one flange oi the body being disposed at a right angle to a bight portion and fixed to said other portion of the angle iron, the other flange of the body being oblique with respect to the bight portion and diverging downwardly from said one flange and provided at its bottom with a supporting foot substantially L-shaped in cross-section, one portion of the behaped foot being parallel to the bight portion and extending away from said one flange, the other portion of the foot being perpendicular to the bight portion, the juncture between said last mentioned flange and said bight portion being curved upwardly and then downwardly to provide an upstanding ridge against which the adjacent edge of the glass is adapted to rest.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
SAMUEL SLAVIN.
