TOY.
Application filed June 23, 1925! Serial No. 38,953.
Our invention relates to toys, and has for its object to provide a new and novel aeroplane appearing tricycle toy for children upon which a child may ride and direct by shifting the rear wheel.
These objects we accomplish with the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which similar letters and numerals of reference indicate like parts 'throughout the several views and described in the specilication forming a part ot this application and pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings in which we have shown the best and most substantial embodiment of our invention, Figure l is a side elevation of the toy. Figure 2 is a plan view of the same, parts cut away, and parts shown in dotted lines. Figure 3 is a front elevation of the device.
One oiLl the objects we'accomplish is to give the toy the appearance of an aeroplane by giving the body A of Athe toy the shape oi an aeroplane when viewed from its side, and by attaching to the upper edge of said body a supporting board l on which the smaller toys of the child may be carried, and which board has the appearance'ot' a pla-ne on an aeroplane. A crank axle B is mounted for rotation by the bracket bearings C and D. The upper end portions of the said bearings C are fastened to the sides of said body A, and the central bearing D is fastened to the under side of said body. The two front wheels E are secured on and rotate with said axle B and foot pedals F are carried on said axle by which it is rotated. A miniature propeller G is mounted on the front end of said body A and which is rotatable by the force of the wind strik ing it when the toy is run over the ground. A rear wheel H is mounted under the rear end of said body by the bifurcated bearing support J which is pivoted in said body. A short lever 2 has one end fastened to said bearing support J by which the direction of said rear wheel is controlled. A handle standard K is vertically pivoted through said body A by the crank bolt 3 and on whose lower end portion is pivoted one end of the connecting bar 4l. l The other end of said bar l is pivoted to the said lever 2, and
.seat L is provided Von said body for the child to sit on while operating the toy.
Having thus described our invention, we desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim In a toy of the class described the combination oit avsingle thin body member having its lower edge on one plane and its upper edge cut on a sinuous line of three planes; a seat secured on the upper edge of the medial plane of said body member; a support board secured on the upper edge of the widest portion of the body member and-at right angles to its vertical plane; a bifurcated wheel standard carried in the rear end portion of the body member; a wheel mounted between the bifurcated portion of said standard; a lever arm secured on the said standard and extending at right angles to said body member; a three bearing` crank axle mounted under the front end portion of said body member; a wheel sei member; and a connecting` bar pivotcd to the lower end of said crank rod and to the lever arm of said rear wheel standard. n
In testimony whereof we have each aftfixed our signatures.
RULON H. DAVTS. THERON C. TEEL.
