CQ'FRANKE. Ho'rse Blahket and Pantaloons Combined,
No. 160,012. Patented Feb.23,1875.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHAR-LES FRANKE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN HORSE BLANKETS AND PANTALOONS COMBINED.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 160,012, dated February 23, 1875 application filed January 15, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES FRANKE, of New York, in the State of New York, have invented a new and useful Combined Horse Blanket and Pantaloons, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention consists in the construction of a horse-blanket, arranged with suitable yokes and. fastenings, whereby the blanket can be folded and fastened together, to form pantaloons, when desired.
In the accompanying drawing, Figures I, II, and III represent the several parts of which the blanket is formed. Fig. IV represents a side view of the blanket as used to cover the horse, and Fig. V represents a front view of the pantaloons when the blanket is folded and fastened together for that purpose.
A represents the main part of the blanket, cut open at one end at a, and split so as to have a tongue, B, between. This tongue B is made with parallel sides n n, .while its end is rounded or pointed. In the end of the tongue a button-hole, d, is made, and on one side, E G, of the blanket three button-holes, f g h, are made, while on the other side, F H, two button-holes, r s, and two buttons, d It, are arranged and fastened. O and O represent the yokes, whose sides o and w correspond with and are attached to the central out w and o of the main partA of the blanket, while the sides n n correspond with and are attached to the straight parts n n of the tongue B. In the yoke 0 two buttons, f g, and a button-hole, z, are provided on the side E,
described, the whole will form a comfortable horse-blanket, as represented in Fig. IV, and can be fastened on the horses chest by means of the button 2 bein g passed through the button-hole 2.
When the blanket is to be used as pantaloons the uncut part of the blanket is folded over inward near the line h, and the two sides G and H fastened together by means of the button-hole h and button h, forming thus the body or upper part of the pantaloons the end of the tongue B is then attached to the button 61 and the side F folded over the side F, and the side E folded over the side E,'and fastened together by means of their respective button-holes and buttons, forming thus the legs of the pantaloons, as shown in Fig. V. On each side of the blanket, near the end of the tongue B, gores D D are cut out, to facilitate the turning over of the sides when used as pantaloons.
'The number of buttons and corresponding button-holes may be increased, if desired; or
other arrangements for fastening the sides together, such as hooks and eyes or strings, may be made.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
As a new article of manufacture, a horseblanket consisting of the blanket A, cut open at one end and with a tongue, B, in combination with yokes O G, attached to the same, in the manner described, and provided with suitable fastenings, arranged substantially as and for the purpose herein specified.
