Thisinvention relates toimprovements in removable dental bridgework.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide a method of constructing a removable bridge so that the metallic parts thereof, including the attaching portions whereby the bridge is secured tothe piers, may be cast inone piece. i

Fig. 7 shows the use of the new wear piece with an ordinary T-head attaching-portion.
Referring to the numerals on the drawings, I have illustrated in Fig. 1 pier teeth indicated by the numeral 8 and the gap between these pier teeth is to be filled by the bridge shown in Fig. 2, this comprising a saddle 9, carrying artificial teeth 10, and provided with attaching portions 11. The pier teeth may carryinlays 12'such as shown socket in the pier tooth was in the form of a,
closedbottom box around which the pier; tooth inlay was cast. This box had, onits edentato side, a slot to accommodate the shank 15, and the technique involved in properly correlating and uniting the parts demanded skill and care on the part of the operator. And because the shank of the T-head was. merely soldered to the bridge, there were important structural, weaknesses.
One of the improvements constituting my invention is in the fact that the pier toothiulay is provided with a socket which is open n'ot only at the top but also substantially wide open on the edentate side; as in Fig. 1, or slightly undercut, as in Fig. 3, and, correspondingly, the attaching portion of the bridge which fits thispier tooth socket, needs no shank. Accordingly, the bridge with its attaching portion may be cast'in one piece, constituting an integral, homogeneous piece of metal.
In order that the bridge, when in position, may be held with desirable friction against 'the inner side walls of the respective pier tooth sockets, I provide a novel wear piece which is easily manufactured and readily adjustable and replaceable.
Referring to Figs. 4: to 7, inclusive, I show in the face of each attaching" portion 11 of the bridge, sockets 16 which converge towards the face of the attaching portion body portion of the wire more or less. This wire may be initially straight, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 5, may then be bent somewhat, as indicated in full lines in Fig. 5, and then put in position, as indicated in Fig. 4., After the bridge has been taken out of the mouth and replaced number of imes the wire will of course lose its springiness, but this may be restored by bendingthe wire again, or a new one may be put m place or it.
It will be evident that this particular wear piece may also be utilizedin connection withthe form of T-head shown in. the Chaycs patent above mentioned, ,as'illustrated in Fig. 7. In that case, instead of sockets 16 I may make perforations 19which extend from front to back of the T-head.
' Inasmuch as many changes could be made in the above construction, and many apparently widely different embodiments of my invention could be made without departing from the scope thereof, it intended that r all mat-t contained in the above description -i drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
It is also to be undcrstoozl that the lanor shown in the accompanyi guage used in the following claims is intended to cover all the generic and specific ie'atnresot' the invention herein described and all statements of the scope of the invention which, as a matter of language, might be said to fall therebetween.

A. denture comprising pier teeth provided with sockets, abridge having attaching portions fitting the sockets, sockets in each attachingportion of the bridge converging lowardst-he outer face of the attaching portion, and a wire having its ends seated in the sockets of an attaching portion and having its body portion projecting lJGw yond the face tl'iere'ot, the attaching portion having a groove in the face thereof connect ing the sockets and in which the body portion of the wire is seated. a
