This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in an automatic water control valve and more particularly to the type of automatic valve disclosed in patent 6 anted to John L. Skuttle, 1,368,364, dated ebruary 15, 1921. v
The automatic water control valve disclosed in this application is intended for effecting a constant supply of water for humidifying purposes to the water pan of a hot air furnace, and being an improvement over patents anted to John L. Skuttle, this invention refia tes moreparticularly to a renewable valve seat and a retaining plate therefor.
With the above and other objects in view that will become apparent as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.

Figure 4 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on line 44 of Figure 3 showing the renewable valve seat in the valve casing head and the retaining plate for the renewable 4o valve seat. v I The object of this invention being to provide a constant water sup 1y for the water 1 pan of a hot air furnace or automatic humidification, the gist of this invention relates particularly to a control valve .of the float type for the water sup ly. As shown in Figure 1, the float contro box 1 has a pipe connection 2 with a water supply line while the pipe 3 leading from the box 1 is adapted to m communicate with the water pan in the hot air furnace for the maintenance of constant" sup ly from the float control box 1.

The valve seatmay be constructed of any desired material such as hard rubber or bakelite and has a central opening 12 formed therein. The renewable valve. seat 11 is of a diameter comparable with the diameter of the opening 10 in the valve casing head to be forcibly positioned therein and frictionally retained; A retainmg plate for the removable valve seat 11 is also provided, the plate 13 being engaged; I
with the outer projecting end of the valve seat 11 as shown in Figure 4 and retained in 8O position by the screws 14 passing therethrough and entering the valve casin head 4. The retaining plate 13 is provide with an opening 15 alined with the opening 12 in the valve seat to permit free passage of the valve.
The valve mounting and float associated plate 13 being cut away to provide a clearance for the post 16. As shown more clearly in Figures 3 and 4, the outer end of the post 16- is bifurcated as at 17 for the reception of the plate 18 that is pivotally sup orted thereby upon the pin 19, The lower e go of the plate 18 carries a laterally rojecting finger 20 that engages the lower si e of the post 16 to limit downward pivotal movement of the plate. It is essential that the valve 21 have perfect contact with the valve seat to eliminate leakage by way of the valve into the float control box. In many instances, foreign matter will collect on'the valve seat and result in scarring thereof and destroy its efiiciency. By'providing the removable valve seat 11, the same can be" renewed whenever desired and being constructed of wear resisting material, sue as hard rubber or the like, the life of the valve. will be greatly increased. While there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may ,be made thereinwithout departing from the spirit and scope of'the invention as claimed.
1 What I claim as new is 1. In automatic water control of the character described, a valve casing head having a passage therethrough forming a valve opening, a removable valve seat set into the opening of the head at the exposed side thereof, a retaining plate for the removable valve seat finger projecting from said plate adjacent said post to limit its downward movement about its pivot, a removable valve seat set into the valve opening, and a retaining plate for the removable seat.
. 3. In automatic water control of the char acter described, a valve casing head having a passage formed with a valve opening on the exterior surface of said head, a post projecting from said head, a plate pivoted to said .post for vertical movement in its own plane,
a float rod secured to said plate, a float on said rod, a valve plunger pivoted to said' plate, a finger projecting from said plate adjacent .said post to limit its downward movement about its pivot, a removable valve seat set into the valve opening, a retaining plate for the removable seat, and said retaining plate having an opening therein for the passage and guidance of the plunger valve.
