Application flledOctober 15, 1926. seriai no. 141,807.
The present invention relates to a socket box and aims to provide a device whereby several electric bulb sockets may be assembled in a compact and convenient, form.
A still further very important .ob'ect of the invention lies in the provision 0 a device of this nature which is'exceedingly simple in its construction, capable of being cheaply manufactured; easily assembled and disassembled, strong and durable, efiicient and reliable in use, and otherwise welladapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
VVith the above and numerous other ob jects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, andin the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal vertical section through the socket box,
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the socket holding member thereof.
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the box B has a lid 5 and includes a bottom 6 and walls 7. Openings 25' and 10 are provided in the lid 5 and the bottom 6 respectively for receiving bolts 26. The particular feature of novelty in this device resides in the plug supporting structure which is in the form of a block 28 having at each end a pair of laterally extending legs 29 in spaced parallelism and provided with registering openings 30 for receiving screw 31. Theplugs 16 are snugly fitted intoopenings in the block 28 and are electrically connected together by strips 18 engaged with the plug by means of screws 19. In order to further secure these plugs in place there is provided a bar 32which is adapted to have its ends disposed between the extremities of the pairs of legs 29 and has openings 33 for receiving screws 31. This bar 82 also has openings 34 for receiving bolts 26. These bolts 26 not only hold the plugs supporting structure together but also hold the lid on the box and assist in holding the box on any suitable support such as the dashboard of an automobile. The leads are directed through an opening 35 provided in one end wall 7 of the box.
tailed description thereof. The present eme bodiments. of the invention have been disclosed in detail merely by way of examples since in actual practice they attain the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description. that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is 1. A device of the class described including, in combination, a box, a lid for the box, means for holding the lid on the box, a plug supporting structure in the box, said structure comprising a body block having extend ing from each end a lateral pair of legs in spaced parallelism and provided with registering openings, a bar having openings at its ends, said bar adapted to be received at its ends between the ends of the respective pairsof legs, screws adapted to pierce the openings, plugs mounted in the block body and extending through openings in the lid.
2. A device of the class. described including, in combination, a box, a lid for the box, means for holding the lid on the box, a plug supporting structure in the box, said structure comprising a body block having extending from each end a lateral pair of legs It is apparent, however,
in spacedparallelism and provided with registering openings, a bar having openings at its ends, said bar adapted to be received at its ends between the ends of the respective pairs of legs, screws adapted to pierce the openings, plugs mounted in the block body and extending through openings inthe lid, and bolts piercing registering openings in the lid, in the block body, in the bar, and in the bottom of the boxstructure.
' 3. A device of the class described includ ing, in combination, a box, a lid for the box,
means for holding the lid on the box, a plug supporting structure in the box, said structure comprising a body block having extending from each end a lateral pair of legs in spaced parallelism and provided with regand bolts piefcing registering openings in istering openings, a bar having openings at the lid, in the block body, in the bar, and in its ends, said bar adapted to be received at the bottom of the box structure, a pair of,
its ends between the ends: oi the: respective strips" connecting the in parallel, and pairs of legs, screws adapted to pierce the leads extending therefrom.
