This invention relates .to Scrapers for disk harrows, and is more particularly concerned with improvements in the blades and blade securing devices for such implements.
I Itis an object of the invention to provide a disk harroa1 scraper assembly having a novel and advantageous arrangement of its component parts. i

The illustrative scraper assembly includes a supporting shaft to which a scraper blade 11 `is rigidly secured by means of an interposed coupling 12 and a U-bolt 13. The shaft 10 is herein shown as of square :i5 stock material such as is commonly used in implements of the character herein specified. This shaft is supported in a well known manner relative to gangs of earth working disks so i as to appropriatelyr support a strength in such blades and to facilitate' the descrip- `4o scraper for each disk in proper operative position.
A lower portion of each scraper blade 11 operates in close proximity to a disk to remove earth which may stick thereto. This part of the blade is the operative part andv will be hereinafter referred to as the point 14 or the point portionof the blade. It is constructed of sheet metal of appropriate thickness or gauge to provide adequate strength together with the requisite amount of flexibility.
The point 114 is joined to the heel 15 by a main body portion 16 which has a central longitudinal rib 17 formed therein to adequately strengthen the blade. This rib is or use in `attaching the l shown in shown as progressively increasing in `height from the point of its beginning 18 upwardly Y of the blade. At its upper extremity, however, its heightabove the balance of the i blade is not great enough to substantially interfere with the bending of the blade at 19 to form the heel 15. Neither is the height of the -rib at this point so great as to substantially weaken the structure ofthe blade at this bend.
The heel 15 is shown as being extended at an obtuse angle to the remainder` of the blade, and is formed so thatits cross section is similar to the cross section of the main body portion and point of the blade. It thus includes an intermediate portion 20 which is arched upwardly, this portion being shown as a substantial continuation of the rib 17. The arch 20 lies between two flat parts 21 appropriately formed within the same horizontal confines so as to adequately maintain the entire blade in its effective working position, as will be hereinafter explained.
The coupling 12 is formed near its ends with flat surfaces lying within the same horizontal plane. They are adapted to it tightly against the flat parts 21 of the heel 15 so as to promote advantageous securement of the blade .in working position. Between these flat surfaces the coupling 12 is provided with an upwardly cut-away part forming a downwardlyfacing groove 22 adapted to provide room for' the arch or rib 20, which is arranged therein as 'clearly 2O to exercise its full strengthening and bracing effect upon the point 14. Displacement of the blade by unusual resistances encountered in operation will be immediately counteracted by the added elasticity afforded by the rib, and the blade will be returned to its normal position. This result is promoted by the location of the arch or rib 2O whereby it is free from contact with the coupling. I
` Prevention of any substantial twisting of the heel 15 relative to the coupling 12 is accomplished by the formation of shoulders 23 upon the lower face of the coupling. These shoulders are shown parallel to each other and otherwise so arranged that they il() Fig. 2. Appropriate strength is given to these ends by the illustrative lugs Q9 to compensate l`or the removal ot material b v the drilling ot the coupling.
The U-bolt 13 is shown as having its bight lot-ated above the shaft 10 with its legs'extending down 'ardly on either side thereof. Eaeh leg passes between a shoulder 2?) and a Corresponding side of the heel 15 whieh are appropriately grooved. as indirated at 30 and 31. respectively. The eoupling. heel. and U-bolt are thus loeked against displaeement. Spaeed abutments for the marginal portions of the heel 15 are formed b v the burr 32 whit-h are screw-threaded upon the legs ot' the Li-bolt. 13 so that they may adequately grip the heel and also bind all ot the partsl ot the illustrative assembly tightly together. The heel forms a substantially A-shaped trussl between abatments provided by the shoulders 2?) or the burrs 32.
lVhat I claim as my invention. and desire to seeure by Letters Patent. is:
1. A .scraper assembly Jfor disk harrows comprising a supporting shaft. a U-bolt ha ving its bight lying above said shaft. a scraper blade having a relatively low rib longitudinally centrally thereof. the blade having an angular heel formed with a similar rib. and a double groove coupling interposed between said heel and the shaft. the rib ot the heel lying within a groove ot said coupling.
2. A scraper assembly for disk harrows eomprising a shaft, a ribbed seraper blade supported by said shaft, a coupling having upper and lower grooved surfaces and interposed between said shaftJ and said blade, and a. downwardly opening U-bolt securingr all of the above mentioned parts rigidly together.
3. In a. device ot the (class deseribed, a rock shaft, a U-bolt .straddling said roek shaft with its bight lying over the upper portion of the rock Shaft, a eoupling having a depressed mid-portion conforming to the periphery ot' the roek shaft. the opposite side of the eoupling having opposite llat.. surfaces lying in the same plane and separated by a downwardly opening Channel, and a scraper formed ot sheet metal having portions held tightly against said surtat'es by said U-bolt and an arched portion entering said channel.

A scraper assembly `for disk implements eomprising a Shaft, a .spacing bloek engaging the shaft and formed with flanges having openings lot-ated on oppoeite sides of the shaft, a scraper blade seated on said llanges and formed with ehannels register ing with said openings. and elainping means in engagement with the shaft and blade having parts fitted in said openings and channels.
