Thisl invention relates to furnaces and more particularly to "furnaces or fire pots such as are adapted for plumbers" use and the like. r f
The invention pertains nioreespecially to a novel I and improved construction of coil which distinguished by its simplicity of construction thereby cnablingit `to be economically 111a1n1factu1'ed without sacri-1 1U [icing any of its etliciency. I The various objects, advantages and novel details of construction of the invention will beinade more appa-rent as this description proceeds, especially when consideredv in con`- nection with the accompanying drawings wherein:

Referring now particularly to the drawinfzs wherein like reference characters indicate like parts, it willibc noted that the fire pot construction consists essentially of`a` fuel tank 1() upon which a supporting plate 11 is mounted and from which supporting standards v standards support, at their upper ends, a
super-posed loops 15 and `16laterally di-` anietrically `offset with relationto the vertical axis of the coil. The arrangement and contour of thc loops is such that a coil of substantially circularv configuration in' plan viewis provided. The upper loop 15 terminates in or is connected to an inlet pipe 17 which is provided with a vertically extending portion 18 leading' to the fuel tank 10. A control valve 19 is arranged in the branch 18 of the inlet pipe.

The outlet pipe 2O is provided with an upwardly bent portion 25 forming a hump orbowed portion immediately adjacent the vertically extendingr portion. The arrangement is such that the inlet and outlet pipes 17 and 20-extend across the coil in o posed spaced relation on opposite sides of t e longitudinal or vert-ical axis of the coil which is preferably substantially coincident with the orifice 24 of the burner tube. Thus, the fuel entering the intake pipe extends first diametrically across the coil, `then around through the loops 15 and 16 which are laterally offset or vertically disaligned and then through the humped or upwardly looped portion 25 of the outlet pipe and then down wardly in the vertical 'section 21 of this outlet pipe to the orificeof the burner tube `23. The loops of the coils are welded together at one or morepoints as indicated at26 which operate to-prevent warping anddisalignment of the convolutions ofthe coil which might otherwise result either from the intenseheat to'which the coil is subjected. or from mishandling during assembly or disassembly.` l p Vith such a construction a hi ghly eilicient vaporization of the fuel is attained with a coil of a relatively simple configuration. Thus a highl degree of efiiciency is attained and at the same time the coil may be quickly and cheaply manufactured. Reservation is made to make such changes in the non-es-` sential details of the invention as may come i within the purview ofthe accompanying claims. p
What I claim as my invention 1s:
,1. In a furnace as described, a coil com-` prising a pipeformed with two superposed loops Oppositely laterally ofset with relation tothe axis of the coil, an inlet pipe connected to the end of the upper loop and 'extending across the coil to one side of the center thereof and an outlet pipe connected to the end of the lower' loop and bent upwardly and then downwardly within the circumference of the coil.
2. `In a furnace as described, a coil comprising a pipe formed with two superposed loops oppositely laterally offset with relation to the axis of the coil, an inlet pipe connected to the end of the upper loo and extending across the coil to one si e of the center thereof and an outlet pipe connected to the end of the lower loop and bent upwardly and then downwardly within the circumference of the coil and in opposed spaced relation to the inlet pipe.
3. In a furnace as described, a coil comprising a pipe formed with superposed vertically disaligned loops, an inlet pipe connected to the top loop and extending transversely of the coil adjacent the axis thereof and an outlet pipe connected to the bottom loop and bent downwardly at a point adjacent the axis of the coil, the loops being welded together at one or more points.

In a furnace as described, a coil comprising a pipe formed with a spiral portion having two loops diametrically laterally olfset with reference to the axis of the coil and inlet and outlet pipes connected respectively to the ends of the upper and lower loops and arranged on opposite sides of the axis of the coil, the loops being rigidly connected to one another at one or more points.
5. In a furnace as described, a coil comprising a pipe formed with a plurality of super osed loops, an inlet pipe connected to one o the loops, and an outlet pipe connected to another of the loops, the said outlet pipe having a portion bent upwardly and then downwardly within the circumference of the coil.

In a furnace as described, a coil comprising a pipe formed with a pluralit of oops, van inlet pipe connected to one o the loops, and an outlet pipe connected to another of the loops, the said outlet pipe having a portion bent upwardly and then downwardly and extending beyond the top and the bottom loops of the coil.
7. In a furnace as described, a coil comprising a pipe formed with a` plurality of superposed loops, an inlet pipe connected to one of the loops, and an outlet pipe connected to another of the loops, the outlet pipe having a portion extending upwardly and then downwardly within the circumference of the coil and extending beyond both the upper and lower ends of the coil.
8. In a. furnace as described, a coil comprising a pipe formed with two superposed loops, an inlet pipe connected to the upper loop, and an outlet pipe connected to the lower loop, the said outlet pipe having a portion bent upwardl within the circumference of the coil beyon the upper loop and then downwardly within the clrcumference of the coil beyond the lower loop.
9. In a furnace as described, a. coil coinprising a pipe formed into vertically disaligned loops, an `inlet pi e connected to one of the loops and extending transversely of the coil, an outlet pi e connected to another of the loops, the said outlet pipe having a portion bent upwardly and then downwardly adjacent the transversely extending part;- of the inlet pipe whereby said inlet pipe and the portion of the outlet pipe bent upwardly and downwardly forms a relatively small opening in alignment with the vertical axis of the coil, 4the said outlet pipe extending downwardly and inwardly, and a burner outlet formed in said inwardly extending portion and in alignment with the vertical axis of the coil.
10. In a furnace as described, a coil com prising a pipe formed with superposed vertically disaligned loops, an inlet pipe connected to one of the loops and extending transversely of the coil, curved from but adjacent the axis thereof, an outlet pipe connected to another loop and also extending transversely of the coil but being oppositely curved from the curved portion of the inlet pipe, said curved portions of the said inlet and outlet pipes forming a relatively small opening in alignment with the axis of the coil, the said outlet pipe extending downwardly and being provided with a burner outlet in vertical axial alignment with said coil, the loops being rigidly connected to one another to maintain the alignment of the opening formed b the curved portions of the inlet and out et pipes relative to the burner outlet.

In a furnace as described, a coil coniprising a pi e formed with a spiral portion aving two oops diametrically laterally offset with reference to the axis of the coil and inlet and outlet pipes forming part of and connected to the ends of the upper and lower loops, said inlet and outlet pipes being arranged on opposite sides of the axis of the coil to form a relatively small opening within the circumference of the coil, the loops being rigidly connected to one another at one or more points.
