Description

Patented Apr. 3, 1928.
UNITED STATES VANNA VVILKS AND V."J/'i-B.' tD SCHEIER, OF. NEVI YORK, N. Y.
CONTAINER ron COSMETICS.
Application filed July 27, 1927. Serial No. 208,677.
rllhis invention relates generally to cosmetic holders, and has more particular reference to a novel holder' particularly adapted to hold lipstick, rouge, and powder'.
The invention has for an object the provision of a holder which will conveniently hold certain cosmetics, and which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.
`For further comprehension vof the invention and ofthe objects and advantages thereof, reference will be `had to the following description and accompanying drawing and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
Referring to the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of an article constructed according to this invention, certain front parts being broken away to dis` close interior parts.
Fig. 2 is a side view thereof in open position.
Fig. 3 is a plan view, looking along the line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view similar to Fig. 1, but disclosing a modified form of the invention.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view, disclosing another' modified form of the invention.
Fig. 6 is a side view similar to the central part of Fig. 2, but disclosing a modification thereof.
The reference numeral 10 indicates a tlat base from which vertical sides 11 project, and contained within the boundary of the sides is a powder container 12 containing powder 13. The container 12 has some splits 14 on its top face through which lthe po'wder 13 may pass. A powder puff 15 rests on the top surface of the container 12.
pipe member 16 is of such shape and that the vertical sides 11 may slide therein, and a smaller 'pipe member 17 lits into the top of member 16 and is pasted in posit-ion. A horizontal partition 18 is pasted across the bottom of member 17. A small partition wall 19 is secured on top of partition 18, and rouge 20 with rouge puff 21 is arranged in this partition portion. Some lipstick 22 rests on partition 18. A cover 23 fits on the member 17.
It should be understood that the invention is not limited to the particular shape of the article shown in F ig. 1, but may be of any shape, as for example, Fig. l shows a square,
and Fig. 5 a circular shape.y
y In use, when it is necessary to use lipstick or rouge, the cover 23 is removed so that the lipstick 22 ancl rouge 2O are available. The powder 13 may be used by withdrawing the base 1() together with the attached sides, and the contained powder, and this powder may be applied by means of the pulf 15.
The modilication of the invention illustrated in Fig. Udiscloses the member 1 6 and 17 pasted to each other. The horizontal partition 18 has angle member 25 secured to thel bottoni thereof, and each angle member has an elongated slot 26 with serration V27 on one side. Pins 28 project throughfslets 29 in. the sides of member 16', and through the slots 26, while tension springs 30 normally urge the pins into engagement with the serrations 27. The height of the partition 13 may be changed by manually disengaging the pins 28 from the serrations, moving the partitionto the desired height, and then allowing sp ings 30 to re-engage the pins 28 in the serration, locking the partition as placed.
Vilhilewe have illustrated and described the preferred form, construction, and arrangement of the several elements employed, it will be understood that the device is, nevertheless, susceptible of considerable modification therein, and we therefore reserve the right and privilege of resorting to all. such changes as may be fairly embodied within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and deslre to secure by' United States Letters Patent is:
1. An article of the class described comprising a base, vertical sides secured thereto, a powder package housed by the vertical sides, a putl` on the package, a pipe member, the said vertical sides being engaged within the bottom of the pipe member, another pipe member secured within the top of the lirst pipe member, a horizontal partition across the lower side of the second pipe meinber, rouge and lipstick positioned on the said horizontal partition, and ak cover engaging over the top of the second mentioned pipe member.
2. An article of the class described comprising a base, vertical sides secured thereto, a powder package housed by the vertical sides, poWder in the package, a puff on the package, a pipe member, the said vertical sides being engaged Within the bottom of the pipe member, another pipe member secured Within the top of the lirst pipe member, a horizontal partition, across the lower side of the second pipe member, rouge and lipstick positioned on the said horizontal partition, and a cover engaging over the top of the second mentioned pipe member.
3. An article ot the class described comprising a base, vertical sides secured thereto, a powder package housed by .the vertical sides, powder in the package, the top of the package having slits, a pufll on the package, a pipe member, the said vertical sides being engaged Within the bottom of the pipe `member, another pipe member` secured within the top ot the first pipe member, a horizontal partition across the lower side of the second pipe member, rouge and lipstick positioned on the said horizontal partition, and a cover engaging over Vthe top of the second mentioned `pipe member.
4. An article of the class described com' prising a base, Vertical sides secured thereto, a powder package housed by the vertical sides, a puff on the package, a pipe member, the said Vertical sides being engaged Within the bottom of the pipe member, another pipe member `secured Within the top of the firstpipe member, a horizontal partition across the lower side of the second pipe member, and a cover engaging over the top of the second mentioned pipe member.
5. An article of the class describedcon'iprising a base, vertical sides secured thereto, a powder package housed by the vertical sides, a puit' on the package, a pipe member, the said Vertical sides being engaged Within the bottom of the pipe member, another pipe member secured Within the top of the first pipe inenjiber, a horizontal partition across the lower side of the second pipe member, means 'for adjusting the height of the horizontal partition, rouge and lipstick posiV tioned on the said horizontal partit-ion, and a cover engaging over the top of the second mentioned pipe member.
In testimonywhereofl We have aiixed our signatures.
