LOOSE-LEAF BINDER.
. Application tiled May 17, 1927, Serial No.`
The present invention relates to a looseleaf binder with which the leaves `are heldk between clamping members or plates and are pushed over holding members by means of unslotted holes and are further provided `with slotted.perforationsfor the passage 'of v,guide members adapted to be putthrough one of the clamping members, the guide members being fixed in the other of the clamping members.` These guide lmembers serve to hold together the parts of the binder if changes .in the number or inthe arrangement of the leaves are to be made so that. the stapleof leaves or a part thereof are solely held in position by the slotted perforations when changes are to be `made and when the leaves are pushed onto the guide ins. p According to the present` invention the aforementioned guide membersare-formed by the Shanks of a stirrup which are adapted to be inserted into the second clamping mem, ber and fixed thereto; s
In this manner the tedious screwing. and
unscrewing of two single pins acting as lguide members withv the `hitherto known types of such bindersI .is avoidedk so that the handling of the binder when changes have` to be made is considerably simplified.
A constructional example of the subject matter of the present invention is illustrated on the accompanyingg'drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a vertical sectionalong line If-I in Fig. 2 of the loose-leaf binder.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the upper-.clamping member,
Fig. 3 is a planview of the lower clamping member,
Fig. 4 is an end leaf binder and Y.
Fig. 5 is a detail-showing some of the perforations of a leaf.
The loose leaves lare arranged between two hollow clamping bars or plates 2, 3. provided with the axles of hinge joints by means of which covers 4; are hinged. To screw nipples 5 fixed'in lthe bar` 3 two ex-` tensible post sections 6 are screwed with each of which two similar sections 6 are connected, which form holding members the length of which can be adjusted in order to permit altering the thickness of the binder. These holding members are provided with a head part 7 screwed to the sections 6, having two annular grooves 7 and 7 arranged elevation ofthe loose 192,024, and in switzerland may 22, 192e.
lone above the other and with` which a lock"` lng slide 8, guided inside the hollow bar 2 and normally held in its locking position by means of tension springs 9, cooperates. VA tongue 8 provided at one end of the slide 8 and projecting ybeyond'the one end of the hollow `bar 2 Hpermits the displacement of the slide against the influence of thesprings 9, so that the bar 2 may be disengaged from the grooves of the head parts 7. A lock l0 removalv of the clamping bar 2 from the holding members 6, 6', 7 is rendered impos` sible. At the side of the bar 2 adjacent to the staple of leaves two plate springs 11 are permits theslecuring of the slide 8 initsy Vlocking position whereupon an undesired provided secured at one end to the clampf the two Shanks 12v`of the stirrup 12 pass through slotted perforations 16 of the leaves, the stirrup 12l passes through holes provided 1n the clamping bar 2 and is loosely connected with the clamping bar 3, i. e,finserted into holes of the latter.y In the clamping bar 3 a locking slide 18 is providedadapted `to engage annular grooves provided at the ends of the Shanks 12 in Order to secure the stirrup in position. The slide 13 ,is nor-` mally held in its locking position by means Y d of a tensionspring 14 andthe slide may be displaced out of its locking position for the purpose of releasing the stirrup 12 by Ameans of an extension 13 at theend of the slide 13.
If, rfor example, a leaf has to be removed i from the staple of leaves the clamping bar v2 is first disengaged from the two holdingv members 6, 6', 7 by withdrawing the slide 8, whereupon the two clamping bars 2 and 3 which are placed so that their rear edges rest on a support, for instance a table, are moved. away from each other. The clamping bar 2 and the loose leaves-'1 are thereby guided changed is the lowermost of them. As the last-mentioned leaf is now only held in slotted perforations 16 on the horizontally placed shanks 12 of the stirrup it can be easily removed from the staple without being injured. A new leaf is inserted into the book in a similar manner.
It desired the head parts of the holding members may be provided with more than two annular grooves arranged above each other so that a correspondingly larger range in which the upper clamping bar can be adjusted along the holding members is provided, obviously these head parts may also bc provided with but a single annular groove.
I claim:
