UNITED STATES 1,661,072 PATENT OFFICE.

UNDEBGAMENT.
Application filed December 9, 1926. Serial No. 153,669.
sembled to affordl ample crotch and seat room. t
Thel invention furthermore comprehends a nether garment construction which opens at one side to facilitate the donning and removal, which garment is lcompletely closed except for a convenience opening at the lower portion of the front, which opening is normally closed by an inner closure flap.
The invention furthermore comprehends a nether garment which is comparativelyv simple in its construction.4 economical to produce, and which is highly efficient in its purpose.
With the above recited and other objects in view, reference is had to the following specification and accompanying drawings in which there is exhibited one exampleor embodiment of the invention which is inno way intended as a limitation upon the scope of the appended claims as it is to be clearly understood that variations and modifications which properly fall within the scope of said claims may be resorted to when found expedient.
In the drawings- Figure 1 is a view of the garment as viewed from the front;
Fig. 2 is a rear view thereof;
Fig. 3 -is a vertical sectional view therethrough taken approximately on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1;
Figs. 4 to 10 inclusive are plan views of the various elements which when assembled -rnake up the garment.
Referring to the drawings by characters .of reference, A and B represent, respectively, the two rear sections of the garment; C and D the two front sections; E and F the waist-band sections, and G and H the front panel sections. It will be noted that the rear sections A- and. B are of considerably greater width than the front sections C and D so that a portion I back of the garment when assembled with the front sections C and D, forms a part of the front of the garment at the crotch to render the same more comfortable to the wearer.
Inassembling the garment, the edges 11 and 12 of the rear sections A and 1B are Vstitched together and the curved edges'13 and 14 of the sections A and B are fitted to and stitched to the straight edges 15 and 16 of the front sections C and D, respectively. It will be noted that the right rear section A is formed with an extension flap J the purpose of which will be hereinafter set forth. The edge 17 of the right rear section A between the points 18 and 19, is stitched to the edge 20 of the right front sect-ion C between the points 21 `and 22. permitting the extending flap portions K and L of said edges to overlap to provide the side opening. The edge 23 of the rear left section B and the edge 24 of the .front left section D are stitched together throughout their length while the edges 25 and 26 of the rear sections and the edges 27 and 28 of the front sections define the lower end of the legs M. The front panel .membersA 1G and H are applied over a part of the portion I of the combined rear sections at approximately the crotch and over the medial portion of the front sections C and D. The waist-band section E is stitched along its lower edge 29 to the upper edge 30 of the right front section C, the extreme outer end N being'provided with a buttonhole ,O and forming a tab. The remaining waist-band section F is stitched at its lower edge 31 to the upper edge 32 ofthe left front section D, to the upper edge 33 of the left rear section B, and to the upper edge 34 of the right rear section A, and adjacent its outer end is provided with one or more buttons P with which the buttonhole O of the tab end is adapted to engage. The remaining edge 35 of the rear left section B is unstitched except to the left panel section H so as to define together with the closure flap, the convenience opening Q which is normally closed by the flap J.
From this construction and arrangement, it will'be observed that the garment in addition to snugly fitting the waist, hips and legs. affords ample seat and crotch room which renders the garment especially comfortable to the wearer.
What is claimed is:
1. In a nether garment, a pair of rear sections stitched together at the inner edges along a medial substantially vertical line,
-said rear sections having portions turned upwardly and forwardly, and a pair of front lll sections stitched, respectively, to the edges ot the upwardly and forwardly turned portions oli' the rear sections and to the outer edges or the rear sections whereby portions of the rear sections constitute a part of the front oit the garment to provide arnple' crotch and seat room while the-upwardly and forwardly turned portions ot the rear sections are disconnected to provide a convenience opening.
2. lin a nether garment, a pair of rear sections stitched together at the inner edges along a medial substantially vertical line, said rear sections having portions turned npvvardly and forwardly, a pair of front sections stitched, respectively, to the edges ot' the upwardly and forwardly turned portions of the rear sections and to the outer edges orQ the rear sections whereby portions ot' the rear sections constitute a part ot the front of the garment to provide ample crotch and seat room while the upwardly and forwardly turned portions or the rear sections are disconnected to provide a convenience opening, and a lap on one ol2 said upwardn ly and :forwardly turned sections provid ing a closure iter the convenience opening.
3. A. nether garment, including a pair olE front and rear sections, each having sub- Leonora stantially straight downwardly divergent inner and outer edges, the latter sections each` having an upwardly and Jforwardly turned elongated inner and lowermost corner defining a gore portion, the outer edges of which gore portions are stitched to the lower portion of the inner edge of the :iront leg section and the inner edge of which gore portions is stitched to the corresponde ing edge ot' the gore portion of the other rear leg section, to provide a garment with ample crotch room.
l. A nether garment, including a pair of front and rear sections, each having-substantially straight downwardly divergent inner and outer edges, the latter sections each having an upwardly and Jforwardly turned elongated inner and lowerinost corner detining a gore portion, one ot' said gore portions being provided with an inner straight edge and the other with an inner convex edge and cach of said gore portions having an outer concave edge, the latter concave edge iitted and stitched to the lower portion ol' the inner edge of the trent leg section and the former straight edge stitched to the corresponding convex edge ot the other gore portion.
