SHAvING BRUSH.
Application filed .Tune 16, 1927. Serial NQ. 199,158.
Another-'object is to provideay substan-` tially Cylindrical shield carried slidably` by the handle'of'the device and adapted Ywhen v in one position to covervthe brush, and ink y its opposite position to surround the said' handle and expose the brush for use.l
Still another-object is to provide a holder for a soap-Stick, said holder normally clos` ing the end ofthe handle Yopposite to the brush'a1id removably supporting the soapstick in the former, said holder upon being disengaged from said handle serving to remove the soap therefrom and support theV stick in such manner asto make it readily available for use for Soaping and preparing the face of a person for shaving.
A further object is to provide the holder with an aperture, and with an axially flexibleV disc longitudinally movable within said holder, and against which theV soapstick normally rests in one extreme position, whereby pressure exerted axially upon said disc through Said aperture both flexes and moves said disc longitudinally, with the result that the Stub of unused Soap is adapted to be ejected therefrom. And a Still further object iS vto provide an improved means for assemblingthe ejecting disc with the soap-supporting member, said member being provided internally with a cir- Y cumferential groove oflarger diameter than that of the opening into said member, so that the disc oflarger diameter than said open` ing is axially flexed in order for it to pass through said opening, after which it Snaps 40 into a Substantially plane state within said receiving groove.
lVith these and other objects inmind, the present invention comprises further details of construction and operation fully brought out in thefollowing description, when read y in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. 1 is a plan view 0f one embodiment of the invention with the soap and brush in threaded inoperative positionsv and protected respectively Vby the Surrounding handle and brush-protecting cylinders; f
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal diametrical section of the same; Fig. 8 isa top plan view of the same; Fig. 4 isa view showing the handle and brush in elevation while the former is Shown as being Surrounded by the brushpioteeting cylinder in cross-section and in withdrawn position; Fig. 5 is an elevational view of the-Soapfstick and holder therefor perse; and Fig. 6 is an enlarged diametrical Section through the Soap holder and Showing the manner of'ejecting a stub of Soap therefrom. j
vReferring to the drawings, there is a hol- Vlow cylindricalv handle member 1, the same at one end being provided with internal rthreads 2, and external radially aligned threads 3. The other end of Said member i is provided with internal threads 4 and radially outwardly thereof with a suitably knurled raised surface 5, on the innerl side of which the exterior of said member is pro.- vided for a short distance with external threads 6. f, f
Referring particularly to Figs. 2, 3- and 6, there is shown a holder for asoap-stick 7, saidholder providing a cylindrical member 8, provided at its open end with external threads 9, adapted to normally engage the internal threads of the member 1, and said member 8 being provided at its other end with a radially inwardly directed substantially plane flange 10, having a central aperture 11. The inner surface 12 of Said mem- Vber 8 is provided at its innermost extent adjacent tothe fiange 10 with a radially larger circumferentially extending groovel 13, in which is positioned an axially flexible nor-V mally plane disc 14 which is sprung into said groove by forcing the disc through the open end of the said soap-Supporting member.
Normally, the stick of Soap 7 is inserted within the cylindrical surface 12 of the member 8 firmly against the disc 14 in its straight or plane position shown in Fig. 2, after which the holder 8 is adapted to be gripped manually for the purpose of applying the soap-stick to the .facer of a person about to j, shave,V orfor the purpose of securing the soap-stick within the member 1 upon suitable relative rotation in order to interengage the threads 9 and 4 of the respective inem-V bers.
In the otherwise open end of the handle member 1 there is removably secured an externally threaded means 15 which constitutes a Support for the fixed ends of bristles-which extend 'freely therefrom and constitute a brush 16. This brush when not in use may vbe surrounded and protected by a hollow cylindrical member 17, which is open at its free end 18, but at its opposite end is prollO vhlutl with i11111111111-1111111105 t9 Wllith vllgflgth thl'omh: ti ol 111l1l hunt-llo 1110111l1ff1' 11s fahomyA has worn flown to sul1st1111t1`111l]y1thv15111111:`
