BBUSHING APPARATUS FOR WASHING THE HUMAN BODY.

Application filed August 24, 1925.

This invention relates to a brushing apparatus for washing the human body. The apparatus is shown, by way of example, on the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 shows the apparatus in side elevation,

Fig. 1 shows the rollers guided on a U bar and Fig. 1 shows the rollers guided on a double I-bar.

Fig. 2 1n rear elevation, Fig. 3 in plan view and Fig. 4 shows the brush in side elevation.

The apparatus consists of a vertical U-bar 1 and of horizontal arms 2. 3 fixed on the upper and lower ends of said bar. A guide piece 4 is movably guided by means of rollers 7, 8, 9 on said U-bar 1. On the guide piece 4 a blade spring 6 is fixed which carries a brush 0. A string 10 attached to the upper end of the guide piece 4: is guided over rollers 11, 12 and attached at the other end to a counter-weight 13. To the bottom end of the counter-weight 13 a spiral spring 14 is attached so that it can be easily hooked on and 011. A string 15 attached to the lower end of spiral spring 14 is guided over rollers 16 and 17 and attached at the other end to the bottom end of guide piece 4. The horizontal arm 2 is fixed on the U-bar 1 by means of screws so that it can be easily removed and fixed on another apparatus. The arm 2 may be composed of two band irons on which the rollers 11 and 12 are mounted.

The U-bar l and arm 3 are mounted on the base plate 18.

Instead of the Ubar a double I-bar might be used.

If necessary the arms 2 and 3 may be fur ther supported, these additional supports would however have to be arranged outside the rollers 12 and 16.

The operation of the apparatus is as fol lows The person who wants to use the apparatus stands between the counter-weight 13 and the brush 0, back turned towards the brush 0. He moves the counter-weight 13 up and down with the aid of the string 10 and the brush 0 executes the same movements as the counterweight in opposite directions.

To brush the front part of the body the person turns round and moves the brush up and down by means of handles all and 6 (Fig. 2) fixed at the right and left of the guide piece +1. The blade spring 6, on which the brush 0 is fixed, is fixed on the guide element 1 by means of pivotal links f and g. The outer ends of links f and g are connected with one another by a spiral spring h.

This arrangement serves to account for the unevenness of the human body and to facilitate the up and down movement of the brush on the body.

\Vhen the body presses against the brush the blade spring 6 is stretched so that the brush yields and adopts the position shown in Fig. 4 in dash lines, the links f and 9 being at the same time swung outward. 'hen the pressure of the body ceases or de creases the blade spring assumes the former position and the spiral spring It brings the links f, 5/ back into the normal position.

The brush may be covered by a cover adapted to be buttoned on.

I claim 1. A brushing apparatus for washing the human body comprising in combination an upright consisting of a U-bar, a guide piece movably mounted on said upright, rollers on said guide piece rolling on said U-bar, a brush elastically mounted on the inner surface of said guide piece, a counterweight, a string connecting said counterweight with said guide piece, and rollers over which said string is guided.

A brushing apparatus for washing the human body comprisin in combination an upright consisting of a Ubar, a guide piece movably mounted on said upright, rollers on said guide piece rolling on said U-bar, two links pivotally mounted one at either side wall of said guide piece. a spiral spring connecting the front ends of said links the one with the other, a blade spring fixed on the front ends of said links, a brush fixed on said blade spring, a counterweight, a string connecting said counterwei ht with said guide piece, and rollers over which said string is guided.
