STENCIL SHEET.
Ho Drawing.
This invention relates to improvements in stencil sheets of the type commonly used for autographic and typewriting duplication, consisting of a sheet of fibrous material coated or impregnated with a coating composition including esters of polysaccharides and chlorinated naphthalene.
The object of the present invention is to provide an improved stencil sheet, adapted for stencilization by pressure, which offers a considerably great resistance to the atmospheric influence on using or storing and gives a large number of clear and sharp copies.
In carrying out the invention, 'a base of open porous material, such as yoshino paper,
is coated or impregnated with a coating composition including esters of polysaccharides, such as mannan acetate, cellulose acetate and cellulose nitrate, and chlorinated naphthalene in solution together with or without a tempering agent such as oils, fats, fatty ac1ds and Waxes. The coating operation is carried out in the usual manner.
The proportions of the ingredients of the composition may vary according to several circumstances, an example being as follows Parts by weight.
Cellulose nitrate, 5% solution 100 Chlorinated naphthalene 2O Stearine 5 Castor oil 5 Application filed May 18,
1926. Serial No. 109,974.
esters of polysaccharides, but also a mixture of them.
According to the present invention, on using the coating composition not hitherto 4o employed for the same purpose, the coated sheet is practically permanent for an extended period of time and produces thereon a clear writing by the pressure' of a hand stylus or the blow of a writing machine, givmg a large number of copies when the sheet is used in the ordina manner, i. e. in a stencil-duplicating mac ine.
What I claim is 1. As a new article of manufacture, a stenoil sheet made of a base of fibrous material, and an impregnating composition comprisingesters of polysaccharides and chlorinated naphthalene.
2. As a new article of manufacture, a sten- 55 cil sheetmade of a base of fibrous material, and an impregnating composition comprising esters of olysaccharides, chlorinated naphthalene and a tempering agent.
3. As a new article of manufacture, a stene0 cil sheet made of a base of fibrous material, and an impregnating composition comprising the following ingredients:
Parts by weight. Cellulose nitrate, 5% solution .5 Chlorinated naphthalene 20 Mannan acetate, 10% solution 20 Stearine 5 Castor oil 5 In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
