Description
Patented Aug. 30, 1927.
UNITED, STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH TRUMAN, OF HANOVER, NEW HAMPSHIRE.
DRY POWDERED CLEANING COMPOSITION.
No Drawing.
provide a compound which may be marketed in dry state or pulverized form and which is I" mixed by'the user with water to the consistency required vfor the particular purpose and applied to the surface in such liquid, semi-liquid or plastic form.
With these and other objects in view the If invention comprises certain novel elements, ingredients, combinations and compounds, as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the compounding of the present cleans-- ing material I employ soap, preferably powdered, 5.2%, soda ash 23.9%, silica 66.6%, moisture 4.3%. The moisture content "is stated separately for the reason that the normal moisture of some of the ingredients 1 above-mentioned varies commercially and it is desirable that the moisture content of the completed compound be reasonably uniform, hence the normal moisture content of the various ingredients when combined is augmented by such amount of water as will bring the moisture content of the-mixture up.
to 4.3%. It is to be understood, however, that this 4.3% moisture isnot usually, erhaps under no conditions wholly adde to the compound, as some of such moisture will always be inherent in some or all of the in-' gredients.
Application filed November 20, 1922'. Serial no. 602,238.
These said ingredients are simply mixed together in the dry state,or the relatively dry state with 4.3% moisture and in that 40 condition or state it is ready for use, packaging or marketing.
In usetthis material may be put directly into the solution in which the article to be cleansed is immersed, as for instance and as an example in the washing of wool or fabric materials. For the cleansing of such surfaces as paint, tiling, orcelain, wood-work or'the like, the materia l is preferably mixed to the thickness of ordinary aint and applied to the surface with a rush. After a suflicient time, which may be only a few ,minutes for the cleansing compound to act on the dirt or other material to be removed, the compound is washed off with clear water carrying and taking therewith the soil spots or other undesirable matters to which it has been ap lied. While two of the manners in which t is compound may be employed efficiently havethus been stated, it will be 0bvious that it may be used for many other purposes and in many other conditions and the stating of these two examples is not to be considered as in any way placing a limit upon the usefulness, utility'or eificlency of the compound.
What I claim is:
A cleaning composition consisting of a dry powdered mixture'of soap 5.2%, soda ash 23.9%, silica 66.6%, and a moisture content of 4.3%.
In testimony whereofI hereunto afiix my signature. a JOSEPH TRUMAN.
