Description
P. C. CROLL MOLD FOR WALL CONSTRUCTION Fi 1ed April is, 1922 mvzm'oa Arroduzv MOLD FOR WALL CONQTEUGTIOII.
Application filed. April 18, 1922.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, PAUL (J. CRoLL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pueblo, in the county of Pueblo and State of Colorado, have invented new and useful Tmprovements in Molds for Wall Construction, of which the following is a specification.
The object of. this invention is to provide a mold particularly adapted, by reason of s its construction, for use in connection with the building of hollow cement walls.
A further object is to provide a mold which may be placed within a temporary form, adjacent molds being spaced from 1 each other and from the form, to afford space for the pouring of the cement.said molds being; designed to receive damp earth or the like, as a filling material.
A still further object is to provide the molds with pivoted devices which may be swung in opposite directions, and which shall serve as chutes for the cement and filling: material respectively.
l i ith the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel constrnction and arrangement of elements described and claimed, it being understood that modifications may be made within the scope of the claims without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a top plan view of the temporary form and the molds therein; Figure 2 is a section on line EZ2 of Figure 1; Figure 3 is a section on line 3-3 of Figure 1; Figure 1- is a top plan view of another form; Figure 5 is a perspective view of the form shown in Figures 1 to 3; Figures 6 and '7 are conventional views showing how the inclined strips on the upper edges of the molds may be maintained in position for providing chutes for the filling or for the cement, as the case may be.
The temporary form includes the up rights 10 and the boarding 11, these being placed on the outer side of the wall, and a similar structure being erected on the inner side.
The molds 12 each consists of a sheet metal box having side, and end walls. These elements are shown in this instance as being of rectangular configuration, and handles 13 and 14 are provided to facilitate manipulation.
Each mold is further provided, at one end thereof, with a hinged strip 15, the hinged connection being shown at 16, along Serial No. 554,623.
the upper edge, at one end of the mold. A similar strip 18 is hi need at 19 along one side w ll. It is obvious that these elements 15 and 18 may be duplicated on oppositely located walls. l i hen the molds are placed in position in the relative position illustrated in the drawings, it is intended that the walls shall be spaced about one and one-half inches from adjacent walls, whether of the. form or of adjacent molds. The molds having' been properly positioned, the hinged elements 15 are swung to position so that they will flare outwardly with reference to the walls on which they are mounted, thus providing a type of chute, facilitating the pouring of the earth, or other material into the molds. lit will be understood that elements 15 and 18 of the individual molds are both employed in the manner specified.
When the cement is to be poured, the elements 16 and 18 are swung in the opposite direction, and properly supported to provide chutes, the walls of which are inclined in the manner shown in llip ure 7. The molds are lifted out by means of the handle. before referred to, after the molds and surrounding spaces of a e ven course have been filled, and the materials are permitted to bond together during the setting; of the cement, the next course being placed in the same manner.
The exact form of the mold is immaterial, and in ldig'ure 41 T have shown a mold 20 of circular form.
Having; thus described the invention, T claim:
1.. A plurality of: spaced molds for wall construction, each comprising a box-like device and including an upper pivoted deti sting element, adjacent elements being movable to position for providing chutes having upwardly and outwardly flared walls for guiding" plastic cement into the spaces between the molds.
2. The combination with a temporary form, of a series of molds positioned within the form, said molds being spaced from each other and from the form, pivoted elements carried by the edge portions of the molds, the free edges of. the pivoted elements being movable toward and away from each other, to provide chutes for filling the molds-and for filling the spaces between the molds, respectively.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
PAUL G. ORULL.
