L. APTOWICZ HOOPLE TOY Filed March 11. 1924 N V E N TIC R 1 601614 680 W8C z;
i rAT-roRNEY Patented 23, 1192;?
LEON AETO'WICZ. OF YONKERS, NEW YORK.
HOOPLE TOY.
Application filed March 11, 1924.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Lnon Arrowroz, a citizen of United States, residing at Yonkers, in the county of Westchester and State 01 New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in l'loople Toys, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in toys and its object is to provide an amusement device conducive to healthful exercise.
Another object of the invention is to provide a toy hoop with which a child will play and which is equipped with a multiplicity of bells designed to tinlzle while the hoop is in motion to further add to the attraction and pleasure of the person.
A further object of the invention is to provide a novel arrangement of bells and bell tappers, so arranger that when the hoop is 29 rolled, the tappers will alternately engage bells arranged in spaced relation about the hoop.
/Vith the above and other objects in View, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts which will be set forth in the following specification, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a side view of a hoop equipped with my improved bell mounting.
Figure 2 is an enlarged sectional view through a fragment of the hoop shown in Figure 1.
Figure 3 is an enlarged sectional view taken on line 14= of Figure 2.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the numeral indicates the hoop which has at spaced intervals to its inner periphery bells 16, and extending between the bells but having their ends slightly spaced away therefrom are tubular guideways 1?.
Serial No. 698,360.
The ends of the guide-ways are bent inwardly as at 18 so that the ball 19 when at the end of this guide-way will contact with the bell at a point to produce the maximum sound.
In order that the ball 19 may be released, should it become jammed for any reason, the guide-way is provided with a longitudinal slot 20 by means of which a sharp instrument may be introduced in the guide-way to pry said ball loose.
While in the foregoing there has been shown and described the preferred embodiment of this invention, it is to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A toy comprising a hoop, a plurality of bells secured to the inner periphery of the hoop, tubular guide-ways extending between said bells, and balls in said guide-Ways adapted to strike the bells as the hoop is rolled.
rolled.
In witness whereof I have afliXed my signature.
LEON APTOl/VIGZ.
