Be it known that I, ORA A.. FERGUSON, a citizen of the United States, vresident of Tulsa, in the county of Tulsa and Stateof Oklahoma, have made a certain new and useful Invention in Burners for Gras Stoves; and I declare the following 'to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertainsto make and use the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specication.
Figure 1 is a central vertical longitudif nal section of the invention.

The invention has relation to burners for gas stoves, of the Bunsen type, having for an obiect certain improvements therein designed to increase the eiliciency and durability of the burner. Other objects and advantages will appear.
The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating the invention, the numeral 1 designates the horizontally elongated body of the burner composed of an upper section 2 and a lower base section 3 the latter being of trough form, and having in the plane of its upper edge a horizontal central partition or baille 4, dividing the chamber of said body into upper and lower horizontal passages 6 and 7. the upper passage being closed at one end at 5 and the horizontal partition terminating short of the opposite end of the chamber of the said body, whereby the said passages 6 and 7 communicate 4with each other at one end thereof at 7.
The base trough section is of semi-circular form in cross section, as is also the upper or cover section, the burnerbeing as a whole of circular form in cross section, the baille being diametric thereof and the cover sec? tion having its lower edge in the plane of said baille. f f
The body of the burner is provided at its forward end with an annular ilaring head orfextension 8, usually formed as an integral part of said base section and of said baille and vprovided at its outer end with a valve 9 whereby more or lessair may be admitted thereto, the said flaring head communicating at its inner contracted end with the forward end of the lower passagev7. c
In practice it is designed that the lower section 3 shall have a plurality of lateral perforated lugs 10 adapted 'to receive thereupon the matching perforated lugs 11 of the upper .or cover section 2, bolts 11a connect-V ing the klugs and thereby holding the two sections of the burner together to form a unitary burner. The end of the burner opposite the air and gas admission end or forward end thereof may` be formed with upper and lower oppositely tapering or inclined walls 12 and 13, whereby the gas which is admitted to the central opening 14 of the flaring head 8 of the burner by suitablev means, and which gas' travels longitudinally of the burner along the lower chamber 7, will be guided upwardly into the upper chamber 6, thereby increasing the eiliciency of the burner.
The lower chamber 7 is usually provided with an opening in its bottom at 16 near the gas and air admission head 8, said opening being designed to admit a small amount of air to admix with the gas, even when the valve 9 is closed.
Communicating with the upper chamber 6 of the burner are a plurality of burner tubes 17 which may be of square or round cross section and are joined to the top wallof the upper section of the burner. These burner tubes are vertical and may be formed with suitable outlet openings for the gas, either by means of kerfs 18 formed by disk saws entering the closed upper ends of said burner tubes and penetrating said ends or tops as shown in Figures 1 and 2, or by means of straight edge saws or hack saws penetrating also partly the sides of the upper ends of the tubes as shown in Figures 4 and 5.
The burner tubes are made of square cross section when tubes of refractory material capable of being rendered incandescent are to be placed thereover, and of round cross section when to be used withasbestos back gas heating stoves.
The burner tubes may be provided with gas outlet openings of other nature than.

The gas and air admitted to the end of the burner body will thoroughly admiX together before being delivered to the upper chamber 6 owing to passage longitudinally the full length of the burner through the lower chamber 7 before beingdelivered Vto said upper chamber, and as the mixture of gas and air is delivered to the said upper chamber in a longitudinal current, the upward flow of the mixture of air and gas into and out of the burner tubes will be at a lesser speed and with a better adniixture than would otherwise be the case. whereby fuming of the gas land blowii'igof ot the `tops of said tubes will be. prevented and the gas burned more evenly and economically and with better heating edect or efficiency. l
In Figures 6 and 7 of the drawings a modification of the invention is `shown wherein the lower section of the body ot the yburner is closed at both endsl and is provided with a central depending tubular enf tension-adapted for admission of air and gas at its free' end or headthis form of the invention being designed for use with gas heaters to be used in replaces.
In both orinsrof the invention the upper section of the burner body remains the same, but the lower sections are interchangeable as may be required.
I claim:
l. A gas burner, comprising a base trough section of semi-circular form in cross section and having a baiiie integral there with and in the plane of its upper edge and a gas inlet port, and a coverY section also of semi-circular form in cross section and having its lower edge in the plane of said baile and being provided with burner tips, said cover section being of the saine length of said base section and forming therewith aI burner of circular form in cross sectionl` of which said baffle is diametric.
2. A gas burner. comprising a base trough section. of semi-circular form in cross section and having a baiiie integral therewith and in the plane ot' its upper edge, and a cover section also of semi-.circular forni in cross section and having its lower edge i'n the plane of said baffle and being provided with burner tips. said cover section being` of the same length as said base section and forming therewith a burner oiu circular form in cross section of which said baille is diametric, said base section having a gas inlet portion extension of one end thereof integral therewith and with said baille.
