Be it knownthat l, licor. K. SELnNKow, residing at Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, county oi' Kings, and State of New York, a citizen o-the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Childrens Vehicles, oit which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to toys or amusement devices, and particularly to hobby horses ot the velocipede type or the like, my object being to provide a device of this character which can be readily built into the toy, andthe ease with which itsv adjustability .is manipulated, instantly transforms the toy into two separate and distinct Jforms', permitting the child operator to acquire a great amount ot ladditional pleasure thereby, and to attain my object,` my invention consists in a saddle or like device, having the construction described by or embraced within the scope or language ot the appended claims. The iorui or embodiment oi my invention as shown in the drawing and brieiiy described, comprises a saddle or seat, that is adapted for use in connection with a hobby norse ot the velocipede type or the like and is mounted to the frame of the toy in such manner, which will permit its being Vlowered so that it will rock or gallop together with the movement of the horse, or is capable of beingl slightly raised so that it will remain stationary with the frame while the body of the horse is rocking or galloping, as in operation, it being readily locked or'unloeked in either position by the child operator.

The stationary portion ot the frame ot the toy as shown in the several views of the drawing and indicated at 10, may be t, is a section on the line 4--4 ot and tubular in Ytorni or of any other desired construction and are suitably spaced apart to permit the reception of a pivot guide member 11, which is mounted to oscillate on a pivot 12, which, by the way, is the same center about which the hobby horse rocks or gallops. The guide memberll, is preferably square in cross section for the purpose of receiving the saddle post 13, which is valso square, and is adapted Vfor sliding engagement within the guide member 11.

Integral with the upper end of the saddle post 13, is a plate or iange 141, for the purpose ot securing the seat or saddle 15, which may be done in any desired manner. A pair of oppositely disposed lugs 16, 1G, are formed on the lower portion of the saddle post 13, and are adapted to engage within suitable recesses 17, 17, formed in the lower ends of the guide member 11. The extensions'lG, are sutiiciently long to engage within recesses 18, 18, provided in the lower edge of the ianges 19, which are formed iutegral with the side members of the frame 10. rllhe outer edges 20, of the flanges 19, are preferably formed arcuate with thc pivot 12, as its center, so that the lugs 16, will readily clear the Aflanges 19, when the saddle is in its lowered or rocking position, as clearly shown in Figure 2, of the drawing,

It can be readily seen with special reference to Figures 3, and 4, of the accompanying drawing, that the saddle 15, when in its elevated position will be effectively locked and relatively stationary with the trame 10, while the body ot the toy from under the child operator will be galloping or rocking when in operation. To securely lock the saddle post 13, with its saddle 15, in either of its eXtreme positions, I. provide a very simple locking means which is preferably located through one side of the tubular portion 11, and consists or" a slidable latch or pin 21, which is adapted to engage into a pair oi' shallow holes or depressions 22, and 23, which are, of course, so spaced apart as to effectively lock the saddle post 13, in its predetermined position. The slidable pin 21, isV normally held into engagement with either of the openings 22 or 23, by means ot a suitable spring 24, which is secured to the guide member 11. For readily disengaging the pin 21, trom its respective (fo-acting holes, l tasten one end ot a cord 25, to a suitable eye in the outer endof the pin 2l, pass the oord 25, to the exterior of the body vportion and secure an eyelet to its opposite end. Although the eyelet for disengaging the latch 'is Conveniently located tor readily changing the saddle 'from one position to the other, it is hidden from viewv by means et one of the depending` saddle flaps.

As l have already indicated, my invention may be embodied in other `forms than that Which is shown in the d 'zi-Wing, and the scope of my invention is to be ascertained from the following' Claims.

A childs vehicle comprising.;- a trame, a body portion mounted on the traine and movable relative thereto, a guide pivotally mounted on the frame, a saddle supported in the guide, and means for adjusting the saddle in the guide so that it will either par take of the movement of the body or remain stationary relative tothe frame.
