POCKET CARRIED SCRAPING IMPLEMENT Filed July 29, 1924 Irv/621207: fldeni 25 carried scraping Patented Mar. 24, 1925.
PIATENTLOFFICE.
ALBERT RUFF, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
POCKET-CARRIED SCRAPING IMPLEMENT.
Application filed July 29, 1924. "Serial No. 728,853.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, ALBERT RUFF, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Pocket- Carried Scraping Implements, of which the following is a specification.-
This invention relates to that class of hand scraping'implements used more par-.
ticularly in shipping rooms in removing'the old markingsfrom boxes and like packages previous to the'application of new markings s thereto, and the present improvement has 1 for its object v 1 p I To provide a structural formation and association of'parts by which a light, durable and compact implement is provided, and
with which the detachable scraper blade is firmly held in place with an elimination of the chattering of the .same in actual use, all as will hereinafter more fully appear.
In the accompanying drawing 1- Fig. -1, is a perspective view ofa pocketimplement embodying my invention. r
. i Fig.2, is a side elevation of the same, with parts in section.
Fig. 3, is a bottom plan of same.
Like reference numerals indicate like parts in the different views. i
As representedin the drawing, the stock or body of the scraper is formediof cast metal, preferably of aluminum or aluminum alloy, and comprises an elongated hand grip or portion 1,.of a hollowform and oval 1n cross-section, and in one piece therewith a solid head or end portion 2, of a rectangular form in cross-section, the lower and forward end 3 of which has a rounded shape so as to permit the grinding of the scraper blade of the implement with said blade in place in the stock or body.
In the preferred construction shown, the 5 oval formation of the hand grip 1 merges gradually into the rectangular formation of the head 2, with the cavity of said hand Iment involves the provision of a transverse groove 4 in the solid head 2 of the implement, immediately to the rear of the rounded lower end 3 of the same and extending the entire width of the head. The
described formation is adapted to provide a substantial holding means for the removable scraper blade 5 of the implement, which blade is held in place by a clamping screw 6 arranged in a longitudinally extending screw threaded orifice in the head 2, as shown. 7 I
. The scraper blade 5 is formed by a section of flat plates metal, one or both edges of which are beveled to afford the proper scraping edge.
Having thus fully describedvmy invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: g I
A pocket-carried scraping implement constructed with a body of hollow form and in ;of oval shape in cross section into which the head is gradually merged, a scraper blade located in the transverse groove, and a clamping screw extending through the screw threaded orificefor securing the scraper in position in its transverse groove.
Signed at Chicago, Illinois, this 26th day of July, 1924.
ALBERT RUFF.
