To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAK B .LIPSKI, citizen of Polanthresiding at Philadelphia, in the-county of Philadelphia and ,State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful IHIPIOVGITLBHtS in Figure Wheeled Toys, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to toys ,and particularly to types in which dolls or like miniature objects, representing children, are caused to move in an amusing manner, and its main object is to produce means Whereby such objects, arranged in pairs, are moved in a manner simulating Waltzing as toy is drawn over the level surfaces.

Another object is to provide means for causing the coupled objects to gyrate and at the same time rotate around a common center in time and harmony with musical notes automatically rendered by the device.

These and other objects which will later appear, are attained by the novel construction and combination or parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawing, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective View showing an embodiment of the invention.

Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view taken in a plane directly in front of the rear axle.

Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken substantially on line 3-3 of Figure 2.

The toy is composed of a rectangular boxlike structure generally indicated by the numeral 5 supported on a rear axle 6 and a pivoted front axle 7.

Said rear axle is provided with Wheels 8 and the front axle with smaller wheels 9 and also a tongue 10 by which the truck thus produced may be drawn and directed.

The rear wheels 8 are furnished with guards 11 attached to the side of the body 5 and a top plate 12 extends partially over the truck at the front.

A central vertical spindle or post 13 is fixed rigidly in the top of the rear axle 6 and encircled by a sectional sleeve 14: carrying at its upper end a circular plate 15 having opposed circular peripheral recesses 16.

Fixed to the sleeve below the plate 15 is a flat bar 17 and attached at the ends of the bar is a plate ring 18 connected by posts 19 with a similar ring 18, the latter resting upon a relatively heavy disc 20, centered on the post 13 and resting on a raised central portion of the rear axle.

Rotatably mounted on the disc "20 and journalled in the bar 17 are spindles 21 to which are secured spur pinions 22 meshing on opposite sides of akcent'ra'l gear 23 fixed tothe stationary post 13 between sections of the sleeve 14.

The upper ends of the spindles 21 carry platforms 24 upon which aremounted figural objects 25, the platforms being rotatable within the openings 16 above which the objects extend.

Set in the lower side of the disc 20 are a plurality of evenly spaced pins 26 forming in effect the teeth of a gear, the same being engaged by the gears 27 fixed to one of the rear wheels 8 and rotatable on the end of the axle 6.

From the foregoing it will be seen that as the rear truck is drawn along and the wheels revolve, the disc 20 will be rotated by the gear 27 and carry the rings 18 and 18 together with the bar 17.

The upper sleeve section and late 15 are also rotated carrying the plat 'orms 24- and, due to the gearing, the platforms will also be rotated independently causing the objects to gyrate in the same direction.

In addition, a number of pins 28 are fixed in the upper side of the disc 20, the same being arranged to strike a lever 29 pivoted at 30 and carrying at its outer end a bell-hammer 31 adapted to hit the bell at regular intervals as the device is operated.

A spring 33 is attached to the lever 29 and heldby a fastener 34 to the bottom of the truck on which is also mounted the bell 32.

From the foregoing it will be evident that a musical note is produced at intervals corresponding to the frequency of the pins 28 and that the same will be timed in consonance with the operation of the objects 25.

Although the foregoing is the preferred form of the embodiment of the invention, it is intended that all matter contained therein be regarded as descriptive and illustrative only and not in a limiting sense.

Having thus described my invention, what 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is v 1. A toy comprising a four wheeled truck body having a fixed rear axle, an upright post extending from said axle, a sleeve formed with upper and lower sections cireumjacent said post, a circular plate rotatably carried by the top of said post, said plate having two opposed peripheral recesses, platforms below the mentioned recesses, figural objects fixed on said plat-- forms extending through the openings, a disc actuated by one of said rear wheels for rotating the lower section of said sleeve the upper section being fixed on said post, means co-operative with said disc for rotat ing said platforms, and means for producing a musical note at intervals during the rotation of said plate.

2. A toy comprising a. four wheeled truck body having a fixed rear axle, a plate r0- tatably mounted on the top of a vertical axis central of said axle, said plate having opposed peripheral recesses, a bar carried below said plate, a disc below said bar,

spindles mounted in said disc and bar,

figural objects carrying platforms on said spindles, the objects extending above the mentioned recesses, a gear rotatable on the axis of said plate, pinions on said spindles meshing with said gear, a drive pinion carried at the side of one of the rear truck wheels, and pins fixed in said disc operatively engaging said drive pinion.
