BACK LACNGrS OF BUST SUPPORTERS ANI) THE LKE.
Apphlcaton filed September 11, 1924.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that l, MAX LOBBENBERG,
a citizen of Germany, residing at Cologne- Lindental, Rhenish Prussia, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Back Lacings of Bust Supporters and the like; and l do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to bust supporters, corsets and the like having a continuous closed front portion and a lacing down the .i back. t v
ln putting on garments of this kind the back lacing must first be widened for allowing the garment to be drawn over head and shoulders and afterward be tightened again for narrowing the garment to obtain the proper lit on the body. lf, as usual, this has to be done by the wearer herself, it is often very diificult for the saine to find among the numerous zigzag paths of the lace the proper oppositely disposed portions which serve as tightening loops for the parts of the lacing lying above and below said loops. Even if these loops are previously loosened to a considerable extent or drawn out of the lacing, incommodities frequently arise inasmuch as the long downhanging loops become entangled 1n groping foi` them or become shifted between the body and the garment. Besides, in this case the laces must be very long so that after the tightening and binding of the lacing, the loops give even more cause for an entangle ment of the laces owing to their length, thereby entailing a new cause for further incommodities in undressing.
My invention has for its object to provide a back lacing for garments of the kind stated with which the portions of the lace designed to form the loops for tightening the lacing, carry finding members shiftable on the lace and adapted to be easily felt by the users fingers, so as to allow of the tightening loops being readily found and sorted out from among the other windings of the lacing. Owing to the arrangement of the finding members, the finding of the tight ened loops will be as easy in the widened as in the contracted condition of the garment, and the lace may be much shorter than in the well-known lacings, thereby reseriai No. 737,082.
ducing the danger of the laces becoming entangled in putting on the garment.
Another object of the invention is to provide an embodiment still further facilitating the handling of the lacing by providing the eyelet lacing edges of the back sections at the outer side with covering liaps having each a pair of guiding eyelets for the passage therethrough of the tightening loops, so that in groping for the liaps with the lingers the tightening loops may be readily found.
The invent-ion will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. l is a partial rear elevation of a bust supporter in widened condition provided with a lacing according to the invention. Fig. 2 is a similar elevation of a modilied form of the back lacing, and Fig. 3 is a section along the line lll-IH of Fig. 2.
Referring lirst to Fig. l, the two back sections Vl of the bust supporter are provided at their lacing edges 2 with the ordinary row of eyelets 3 through which the lace d is drawn in a double zigzag winding in the usual way. The two ends of the lace are connected with each other for instance by knotting as at 5.
'lwo of the zigzag paths of the lace which lie .in the middle are drawn out in a well known manner so as to forni pulling or tightening loops G. The portions of the lace constituting the loops pass cach through a metallic ring 7 These rings will be readily felt by the fingers in groping for the lacing, thereby indicating the tightening loops in a quick and secure manner to the wearer. Owing to the fact that the finding rings are shiftable on the lace, they will not interfere in any wayY wit-h the proper tightening of the lacing.
The metal findingl ring may be replaced by a wooden pearl. a shiftabl-e ring of woven material, a tasse/l, or the like.
The backdacing of the bust supporter shown in 2 and i is of the same kind as that shown in Fig. l, but in addition thereto the eyeleted lacing edges 2 are covered at their outer sides by flaps 8. vWith the enibodiinentl shown, these flaps are formed by the edges of the back sections l of the. bust supiriorter, while the lacing edges 2 consist of separate strips of fabric stitched to the edge portions of the back sections l. As a matter of course, the eyeleted lacing edges 2 may as l UU llU
Well be formed by the back sections l in the usual manner, While the covering flaps S may consistv iof special strips of fabric to he stitehedt'o the outer side ol the edge portions of the back sections l.
The eoveringiiizips 8 with e pair of guiding eyelets 9 spaced from each other and lying somewhat helow the middle of the garment. The portions of the lace 4 drawn out us in Fig. l to Ytorni the tightening loops G are passed through the eyelets Sottile Covering ileps 8 andere likewise provided'with u shiftahleinding ineinhei. sueh :is the inetnl, ring T.
