SLIPPERETTE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDITH ANN MCINTYRE, a citizen of the United States, and aresident of the city of New York and State of New York, have invented certainnew and useful Improvements in a Slipperette; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the numerals of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to foot-wear or pedic protectors.

One of the objects of the invention is to provide a slipperette which will allow free use of the toes while at the same time affording protection to the feet; which will keep in place and not twist during sleep or possible motion of the feet during sleep; which will allow circulation of air around the feet and neither restrict circulation of the blood nor press upon any part of the feet; which will hold in place cream or medicament applied to the feet and which may be used to keep bandages in place, either during the day or night, or both.

A further object of the invention is to provide a slipperette made with a minimum of seams thereby diminishing irritation from uneven surfaces.

It is also an object of the invention toprovide a slipperette having its sole portion formed of oiled silk or other thin flexible and waterproof material and its upper portion of thin cotton fabric and soft tape for securing the slipperette to the foot.

An additional object of the. invention is to provide a slipperette which is readily cleansed and therefore sanitary.

Other objects and advantages of this invention will be apparent from the disclosure in the specification and drawings.

The invention (in a preferred form) is illustrated in the drawings and hereinafter more fully described.

As shown on the drawings: The slipperette is formed like a moccasin with the sole, 10, turned upwards all around to provide the lower part of the shoe uppers. The upper part of the slipperette is formed of a single piece of cotton fabric, 12, with an insert, 13, of the same material adapted to extend over the top of the foot.

The part, 12, forms an inner lining for the sole portion of the slipperette as well as the uppers. To shape the slipperette the edge of the fabric, 12, is drawn together present invention on the wearers adjacent to the toe before such edge is sewed onto the insert, 13, at 14. The materials 10 and 12 are folded diagonally at the heel along the lines 15, as best seen in Figure 4, said folds meeting at a point partway up the heel to form a pocket and overlapping and extending vertically therefrom at 16, said overlapped portion being sewed. The protruding ends of the two materials then are folded up at 11 against the outer face of the heel and sewed thereto at the upper edge.

The rear margin, of the fabric 12 is folded over and sewn down as shown in Figure 3, to receive a tape, 17, by which the slipperette is secured to the foot.

The upper edge of the sole 10 is sewed to the fabric 12, all around the shoe, and a portion 18 of the material 10 projects into the seam 16 and is sewed therein.

I am aware that numerous details of construction may be varied through a wide range without departing from the principles of this invention, and I therefore do not purpose limiting the patent granted otherwise than necessitated by the prior art.

I claim as my invention:

A foot covering, comprising a sole portion of oiled silk or analogous material, and a lining of fabric extended to cover the top of the foot, said sole portion and lining being sewed together along the edge of the former, said sole portion and lining being folded diagonally at their heel portions, said diagonal folds meeting and extending into a Vertical stitched fold, the lower end of said fold being rip-turned exteriorly against said heel portion.
