fective in operation, and durable in use, adapted to effectively clean window panes in a comparative short space of time and with a minimum amount of effort.
W'ith-the foregoing, andl other objectsin view, hereinafter stated, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more specifically stated, andillustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown a device embodying the structure of the inven tion in its preferred form, but it is to be uni derstood that changes, variations and modifications may be resorted to without departing from the scopeof the invention.
In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings,
which form a part of this specification, wherein like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
As illustrated in the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a device embodying the invention.
Figure 21s a vertical transverse section ltaken on th(` line 2- 2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3, is a side elevation, partly. in section, of a device embodying theinvention, showing the interior ofthe body of the device and; v
Figure 4, is a diagrammatic view'showing the device applied to a window pane.
As illustrated in the drawings, 1 represents a body or casing 'substantially cylindrical in -cross section, and as shown in the drawingsof varyin diameter.
The body maye of uniform diameter throughout, however, if desired.
The body is preferably made of metal,
angl is provided with longitudinal flanges, 2, an
flanges by means of rivets 4, or otherwise and extend preferably the full length of the bodyl One end ofthe body may be closed by` a head or plate 5, soas to form a container to hold a sponge 6, cloth, or chamois, for use in connection with the device.l
The body is also preferably provided with a bent-out portion or lip 7, to serve as a scraper to remove paint vorotlerforeign one or more blades of rubber 3,'are' secured at their lnner margin between said matter from a pane of glass, Iand, an apervice, whereby the device may "be hung on to a hook or nail to not in use.
When the' device is in use, water is ap- .f
lied to a window pane, and the rubber' blade rawn overthe surface yof the pane carrying with\ it all dirt and dust that hasf accumulated thereon. The soft yielding edge of the rubber4 blade not .only removesall dust and dirt from the window pane, but 'also dries the surfaceof the pane without the use of a cloth. If desired, soap and water'may be applied to the surface of a' window pane bymeans of a sponge, and after the pane has been gone over with the sponge, the water may be readily and quickl The de vice is also capable of being used for cleaning tables in restaurants, cafeteras use as it may-be conveniently carried about in the pocket of the iser when removing dishes and performing other operations.
Whatl claim as new and desire to secure by vLetters Patent is, l v
A squeegee comprising a tapered tubular body of a diameter' to be securely, grasped in the hand, said body formed of a sheet o-f material with 'its meeting edges extendingl outwardly in parallelism, a squee e element clamped between the aforesaid e ges, and a closure for one end of said body.
In testimony whereof I have aIiXed-my signature.
