Description

T. MIYASAKI BLOTTER HOLDING DEVI CE Original Filed Sept. 13 192] I adult? Fatented Na. 11, 1924.
TSUTA MIYASAKI, LOS ANGIE-LES, CALIFORNIA.
BLOTTER-HO'LDING DEVICE.
Application filed September 13, 1921, Serial No. 500,348. Renewed April 14, 1924.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, TSUTA MiYAsAKI, a subject of the Emperor of Japan, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles,
State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Blotter-Holding Devices, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to blotter holding devices and is particularly adapted for the holding of a blotter around the lower edge of the hand of a penman, between the fingers and the wrist thereof, in order to form a rest therefor and protect the work, as well as to enable the penman to quickly and conveniently blot his work as it progresses without the necessity of in any wise using the other hand.
In the accompanying drawings- Fig. 1 represents the palm of a hand showing my invention applied thereto.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the blotter holder.
Fig. 3 is an edge View of the same showing a blotter attached thereto.
My invention comprises a member 5 formed approximately in the shape of a let ter U and preferably composed of a strip of elastic strap metal 6, as shown in the drawings, but may be composed of any suitable material having any appropriate cross sections. The ends 7 of the metal 6 are bent downwardly and adjacent the outer surface thereof to form the channels 8 into which may be inserted the opposite edges of a piece of blotting paper 9 which is held in clamped relation therein, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 3 of the drawings. The extreme tips of the ends 7 are curved slightly outwardly as at 10, in order to form a mouth 11 to facilitate the insertion of the blotting paper 9 into the channels 8.
In the application of my invention a piece of blotting paper is first inserted into the channels 8 as above described and the member 5 is then pressed on to the lower edge of the writing hand in the position shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, the opposite legs of the U shaped member 5 springing apart to accommodate various sizes of hands and to form a self adjusting clamp.
By the use of my invention it will be obvious that the penman will not in any manner be inconvenienced in the use of the pen while Writing, and may frequently blot the work as it progresses by simply placing the blotting pad 9 on the work and rolling the hand slightly without removing the pen therefrom, thus expediting the work as well as keeping the same clean during the writing process. It may also be noted that when one blotting pad becomes soiled, a fresh one may be very readily inserted in its place.
What I claim is:
A blotter holding device, comprising a U shaped member formed of a single strip of resilient material the ends of which being bent downwardly adjacent the sides thereof to form a blotting pad gripping means, said member adapted to be secured to the side of the users hand.
In witness that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed my name this 16th day of August, 1921.
