A. MONTAN SLIDE FOR GARMENTS Filed OCT.. 16, l922 'W 440% I I latented Novi 4, 1924.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ADOLPH MONTAN, OF WEST ORANGE, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO EASTEB'N TODL & MANUFACTUBING COMPANY, OF BLOOMFIELD, NEW JERSEY.
SLIDE FOR GARMENTS.
Application filcd October 1G, 1922. Serial N'o. 594,766.
To all wiz-0m z't may concern:
Be it known that I, ADOLPH MoN'rAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of lVest Orange, county of Essex, and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful mprovements in Slides for Garments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an impro-ved slide for garments, and is particularly adapted for holding the shoulder straps of overalls and similar garments, the slide being one that can be economically manufactured, one that is of simple construction and which has advantages in rigidity and in the flat holding' of the straps over prior forms of slide.
The invention is illustrated in the ac.- coinpanying drawing, in which F igure 1 is a front view of my improved slide. Figure 2 is a top View, and Figure 3 is an end View of the slide.
rPhe slide is formed of Wire and is preferably made of square Wire, although other forms in cross-section can be employed, this Wire being bent to form a rectangular frame comprising the top strand 10, the bottom strand 11 and the end strands 12 and 13. One of the end strands is looped around one of the side strands at one corner of the frame, as at 14, and the side strand so looped then extends as an end strand, shown at 15, and then extends across the frame to form a central strand 16, this central strand at its end being looped around the end strand 13, this loop being shown at 17.
This is a simple and easily manufactured form of slide, and its rigidity is insured since the loop 17 holds the central strand 16 against any movement away from the main frame, and any movement of the strand 12% is prevented by reason of the off-set portion 18, into which the loop 17 is se-ated, so that any movement of the loop along;` this strand 13 is prevented.
To hold the strap, threaded through the slide, taut l provide ofi-set portions 19 which are disposed at right angles to the plane of the slide and are arranged near the ends of said central strand, so that the tend ency of the strap, When under tension in the slide, to move toward the center or to one side of the slide is resisted by reason of the protuberances or projections formed by the off-set portions 19.
I claim:
A garment slide comprising a Wire bent to form a rectangular frame With side strands andV end strands, one of the end strands grasping a side strantl at one corner of the frame, said side strand extending along the end strand and then across the frame to form a central strand and beii'ig looped around the other end strand, said. other end strand being slightly off-.set Where said loop occurs, said central strand having off-set portions at right angles to the plane of the slide and situated only near 'the ends of said central strand.
In testimony that cl'aim the foregoing, I have hereto set my hand, this 13th day of October, 1922.
ADOLPH MONTAN.
