Be it lmown that l, EARL RAMSBURG, a citizen of the United States, residin at danelew, in the county of Lewis and tate or" llVest Virginia, haverinvented certain new and usefull Improvements in Waiting Tables, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in tables, the primary object thereof residing in the provision wherein the victuals and other articles supported upon the top thereof may served to the persons positioned at the table, by preferably, the head of the family without the usual necessity of passing these articles by hand, the main portion of the table top being rotatably' mounted.

A further object of my invention is the provision of such a table that is comparatively simple of construction and easy ot operation, the same consisting of relatively few parts, and these so correlated as to reduce the liability of derangement to a minimum.

'lhe nature and advantages of the invention' will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawings, the invention residing in the construction, cornbination, and arrangement of parts as claimed.

In the drawings forming part of this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and wherein Figure 1 is a top plan view of a table constructed. in accordance with my invention. v

Figure 2 is a vertical transverse cross sectional view taken substantially upon the line 2--2 of Figure 1.

Figure 3 is a detail cross sectional view upon the line 3--3 of the same ligure, and

Figure 4 is a detail cross sectional view upon the line Ll-t of Figure 2.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the numeral 5 designates the-v table legs, which are formed upon the lower end of a' relatively elongated vertically extending housing 6, the opposite ends thereof being open as shown. Substantially centrally of this tube or housing 6, there are formed upwardly extending supporting arms 7 upon the upper ends of which is the table top designated in general by the numeral 8.

The said 'table top 8 consists essentially of an outer rim portion 9, and a centrally rotary portion l0, the adjacent edges ol the rim 9, and the said rotary portion 10 being bevelled as shown more clearly in Figures 2 and 3 and having metallic coverings 11 and 12, respectively. The said bevelled edge ci? 'the outer rim 9 is iiormed with pockets 13, within which lare rollers 1d, the same projecting slightly outwardly of the pockets and providing bearings tor the said section 10.

Upon the bottom tace of the section 10, and substantially centrally thereof, is a disk 15, the outer periphery being beveiled for engagement within the upper end oit the housing 6, this end being also herelled. The end of the said housing 6 as well as the periphery of the disk 15 have metallic coverings lt, and roller bearings, similar to those disposed between the rim 9, and the central section 10 of the top, this latter mentioned structure not being shown.

Secured at one end to the disk 15 through the medium ot nuts 15 is a shaft 17 having it upper threaded end cooperating with said notch, and journaled at its lower end in a cross arm 18 within the tube or housdisc 15 through the nut 15 provides a structure wherein the shaft is adapted to have a limited amount of adjustment relia- -tive to the disc for breaking up wear 1n the bearing and the gears at the lower end of the shaft, and also providin a removable connection with the disc. eneath the said shaft 17 and journalled at its opposite ends within bearings within the tube or housin 6, is a transversely disposed shaft 20 having keyed adjacent one end a sprocket gear 21, the inner face of which is formed with a bevelled gear 22, for intermesh with the said bevelled gear 19 of the shaft 17. Trained over the said sprocket gear 21 is a sprocket chain 23, which extends outwardly of Athe tube or housing 6 through an opening 24 and is in turn trained over a sprocket ear 25 upon one end of a shaft 26. This s aft is journaled through one of the before mentioned arms 7 of the table, and carries crank arms 27 at its opposite ends, to which are pivotally secured the upper end of connecting rods 28. Although ll have herein shown and de scribed the preferred embodiment of the present invention, it is nevertheless to bev understood that minor changes may be made therein, Without departing from 'the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
