to a table or other support for the purpose of remo-vably securinga typewriter frame thereto. It is obvious, :however, that this securing device might be used for other similar purposes.

Another object of this invention is to provide a device which is extremely simple, one which may be applied by the average person and one which will accommodate itself to various makes of typewriters and like machines.

A still further object is to produce a device of this character which is extremely cheap to manufacture.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.

In the manipulation of a typewriter and like machines where the keys are struck, the machine has a tendency to move over the support upon which it is resting and it is therefore essential that some means be provided for preventing this movement and heretofore long screws have been employed extending through the support with the result that it has been a tedious process to move a machine as these screws had to be removed. We have therefore provided a simple device which will obviate this difficulty. I

This upstanding collar .is provided with an inwardly extending flange 12. which is. adapted to be; contacted by thehead 13 of a partly threaded bolt 14, the threaded end of which is secured to a lug 16 formed integral with the base 5, which lug 16, as well as the nut- 17 are common to all makes of machines.

The U-shaped base 9 of our device is detachably secured to the support or table top by suitable screws or the like 17'. It will be noted that a protuberance 18 is formed upon the upper surface of the collar 11, which protuberance supports thereon the rear portion of a washer 19 encircling the bolt 14 and causes the washer to be angu-- larly disposed with relation to the surface of the collar, as disclosed to advantage in Figure 1.

The numerals 20 and 21 designate extensions formed upon the collar, which extensions serve to retain the washer in position and co-operate' with the washer so as to accomplish a locking of the bolt in the device. It will be noted that the extensions are cut away as at 22 and 23 respectively so that they conform to the contour of the outer periphery of the washer and thus a positive locking action of the washer with relation to the extensions is assured.

head 13 has reached the position shown in v Figure 1. The washers are then dropped and will assume the full line position disclosed in Figure 1. When it is desired to remove the machine the finger of the operator is placed upon the raised end A of thewasher and pressed downwardly, as disclosed in the dotted line position in Figure 1. This action causes the respective washer to tilt over the protuberance 17, thus raising the front of the washer out of engagement with the extensions 19 and 21.

The frame as a whole may then be moved forwardly and the bolt head 13 disengaged from the inwardly extending flange of our device.

It is to be understood that the form of our invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size and. arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.

Having thus described our invention, we claim 1. In a typewriter securing device, the combination with a typewriter frame and its pendant headed bolt, of a U-shaped base member, an upwardly extending recessed U shaped collar formed integral therewith and adapted to receive therebeneath the head of the bolt and having formed on its upper surface a spaced extension and a protuber ance, and a washer encircling the bolt and adapted to rest upon the protuberance and contact the rear of the extensions, for the purpose specified.

2. A securing device comprising a U- shaped base, a collar formed integral with said base and being provided on its upper surface with extensions and a protuberance remote from the extensions of said collar, a bolt adapted to have its head underlie the collar, and a washer vertically movable on the bolt and adapted to contact theprotuberance and extensions of the collar, for the purpose specified.
