COMBINATION FLATIRON SUPPORT AND HOT-WATER BOTTLE.
Application filed March 18, 1921. Serial No. 453,246.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTON It. STEFANIK, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Flatiron Supports and Hot-Water Bottles; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact de scription thereof.
My invention has for its object to provide a simple, economical and effective combination fiat iron holder and hot water container or bag for application to the person of individuals for treatment.
With the above object in view, the invention consists in certain peculiarities of construction and combination of parts, as are hereinafter set forth with reference to the accompanying drawings and subsequently claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 represents a plan view of a device embodying the features of my invention, and
Figure 2 is a cross section of the same, the section being indicated by line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Referring by characters to the drawings, 1 represents the top plate of a metallic container being formed with a downturned flange or side wall 2, which side wall terminates with a double seam connection to a bottom plate 3. The top plate is formed with an upset angular bead 4 to add strength to the structure, and the face of the plate is formed with two series of radially disposed channels 5, which channels form strengthing ribs and also air passages or vents, whereby a circulation of air is maintained under the flat iron when it is resting upon the plate to thus prevent sweating, and to also prevent the iron from overheating when the same is of the electrical type.
0 the escape of steam or vapor,
The top plate is also formed with an upstanding filling nipple 6 having a threaded end for the reception of a knurled threaded cap 7, the side walls of which cap have a vent 8 therein for the purpose of permitting which may develop in the holder. The flanged wall 2 of the holder has secured thereto an ear 9, which serves as a pivot connection for a hanger loop 10, the hanger loop being arranged diametrically opposite the filling nipple 6, whereby when it is not in use, it can be folded over said nipple upon the upper face .of the top plate to thus make a convenient package.
From the foregoing description, it will be observed that a simple and economical sad iron holder is produced, which sad iron holder is in the form of a shell that is adapted to'be filled with water, and the iron is supported upon its upper plate. When the water is heated within the container, it will serve to prevent sudden cooling off of the iron, whereby its heat will be uniformly maintained for a long period.
Furthermore, the. water jacket support for the iron will thus serve as an insulator to prevent the heat of the iron passing through the holder and burning or otherwise damaging the pad or quilting upon the ironing board or surface. It will also be observed that the channels, as previously mentioned, in the upper face of the plate will serve as vent apertures, and owing to their peculiar arrangement, the top face is materially re inforced and can therefore be made of very thin material. It is understood that when the device is used, as a hot water bag that the vent aperture 8 in the cap 7 is closed by screwing down the cap tightly. Obviously, the holder can be'conveniently used for a hot water bag, and owing to its simple construction, the life of it will-be maintained indefinitely as it will not deteriorate under variations in temperature.
I claim:
A fiat iron support and hot water bottle comprising a clrcular member having spaced upper and lower walls, a threaded filling sleeve opening into said member, a closure cap internally threaded and adapted to be screwed upon saidsleeve, said cap having a vent adapted to be uncovered when said cap is partially unscrewed from said sleeve, the upper wall having a plurality of'ribs thereon. i
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand at Milwaukee in the county ,ofMilwaukee and State of Wisconsin.
ANTON R. STEFANIK.
